Good morning to all!

The sourdough is in the oven baking, so if you want hot fresh sourdough bread and fresh eggs for breakfast, be here in about thirty minutes!

I am SO jealous!! I bought a sourdough starter and spent days feeding it and getting it ready. Made some bread from it and...well it tasted like flavorless bread. So disappointed, but I am glad it all worked out for you!! Still...I am jealous!!

Happy April everyone!! We are hoping to have an April Fool today...but it's all in his/her timing. My mother arrived safely last night (MIL arrives in 2 weeks) so now that she is here...everything is in order to come!! LOL. I hope everyone who goes to WCA has an amazing time!! DH said I could go one of these days sans kids!!

Talk about a HUGE gift...although if the one is here...I won't be able to go without him/her unless he can feed him/her!! LOL.

Be sure to give us an update on the auction!! It FUELS me!!

I've never bought a starter; just set up my own. You can either catch a wild yeast and hope it's a palatable one or use commercial yeast to get it going. The longer it grows, the stronger the sour tang.

I've got all my crossable items crossed for an April Fool's gift for you!

Good morning folks

Looks like we are going to have a pleasant day weather-wide
so lots can get done outside.

I need to finish mowing the lawn
and get in a ride. DD and I divided a pot of blood lily bulbs yesterday.
Good thing we did as that pot was seriously full. Planning on making
some friends happy with a gift of some bulbs.

I love this thread! I get so much info from you all, but I wonder if we would move along a lot easier if we didn't "quote" what we are answering.....maybe just preface each point with the member's name. It just takes up a lot of space and makes it hard to follow. It's confusing and I don't like to feel like I missed anything....but I'm sure I do.

I had a disappointing day yesterday....my five runner ducks were not hatching. When we were one day past time, I opened the bator, and found that two of them were oozing black gooey stuff. I quickly wrapped them all up in a towel and took them outside. I was so sad. I hope it wasn't something I did wrong. I had removed one other egg, about a week and a half earlier, that was oozing brown stuff. :( I was really looking forward to hatching these ducks.

Meanwhile, I have guineas, some Dominique eggs, some Barred Rock eggs and some Chinese Ringneck Pheasant eggs all in bators right now. WHOOP!
Sorry about your duck eggs

I find it much easier to use the mutli quotes. Having to scroll back and froth through the pages to get to the editor tha you were typing in to reply to all the post you wish to takes to long for me and losing everything I have typed has happen before and is very frustrating. I beleive if you get a Platinum membership it allows you to choose the number of post per page you can view and I hear it makes it easier to catch up on all the posts.

Good Morning all !

No WCA for me today. My kids are in an Easter play at Church and have to be there at 5pm. I NEED to get there, I am overflowing with chicks, ducklings, chickens.

I thought I would post some pictures of our very first chicks. I could not resist and wait another 4 weeks and the local feed store had Amercauna's(EE's),so we went Wednesday and got 2. Friday we went back to get one more and all 100 were sold, they had RIR, but we are getting 4 of those so we passed. It was not hard to get dear hubby to agree to one more. He even said "i am coming in here to watch some chick TV".

Here are our two:
This one my son picked out. He wanted a dark, small , and had to have a big muff. Her name is Easter. She is very adventerous of the two and the leader:

This one I picked out. I was looking for a light color one. She is sweet, but chirps loudly when you pick her up,but then she is fine. She is the follower. Her name is Bunny.

Here they are together. When we took them outside it was too cute they would follow my son everywhere. We loved watching them run.
