Well, the good news is I still have seven silkies now left and hopefully a new roo coming home to us soon so I can start breeding again! lol DD will be ok when babies are peeping.

I just got a crazy funny facebook message from my neighbor.... her kids found a duck nest of eggs next to their van. Apparently that is where my muscovy has started her clutch of eggs. She wanted to know if I wanted them back, or if she should send her son to go through them in the compost. She had NO idea what to do with duck eggs?!

I told her to just wash them, put them in the fridge and EAT them!

She writes me back with "WHAT?>!?!??!?!?>@@>?@?Are you serious?"

I know! I get more attached to the ducks because they have so much personality! I did decide to incubate the eggs I have stockpiled so hopefully I will have 15 or so runner babies in a month.

Hello all! Just popping in to say Hi!

I just read about the last 10 pages and I'm sorry to hear about the losses going on for some of you! :

I also have a few questions too. How long after a molt before a chicken starts laying? She started apx 2 months ago and has stopped loosing feathers and there are no bald spots left seems she's grown most back in. Just wondering if I'll ever get eggs from her.

Second, one of my EEers laid an egg that had a lot of dots on it. And when I cracked it the white was really runny. Anyone have experiences with this? It was a same day egg. Am I missing something in their diet? I feed them layer feed, let them free range grass and bugs, BOSS, and occasionally scrambled eggs and shells.
