Had the NPIP folks come out and test all my birds. Glad that its over and out of the way for a year

How do you do a search for members? I know how you did it on the old BYC but can't figure it out on the new platform. I have a friend (actually an old classmate of DHs) that I think may be a member on here but don't know how to try to look her up.

What kind of hvac system do you have. Are you sure it was not in the heat setting. Couple of things you can do yourself are

1. Change all filters (you have at least one)
2. using your hose spray off the out side unit (if you have a heat pump or split sys) The coil out side can collect hair, grass, ants and dirt and get clogged. Turn off the breaker for the unit. Take off the cover for the out side unit and spray with hose until clean.

if that does not help you may have a freon leak or a mechanical problem with your unit.

lol My dh is a HVAC tech and I have done service calls with and for him.

NH, I just went through the same thing! Got someone out here from AireServ turned out it was dirty, had a leak and NO freon in the system at all! The leak is small, but the coil replacement is like $1500. So we're going to let the system run until the freon is done for and then get a new unit. But amazing how I thought it was dead and it was temporarily repairable to get me awhile. At first, we didn't think there was any leak (so tiny) so the cleaning alone made a huge difference! So definitely do all that stuff!!!

My Minorca just growled at me, it was like nothing I have ever heard, she also gave me the stinckiest stink eye EVER - wish I had had my camera out there. I have never been growled at by a chicken before, I had to look around, I thought a half cat half dog mutant thing was under the coop, then I realized she was tucked in there GLARING at me, she popped up a bit and she was sitting on today's eggs (3) that were in that nest. I am fixing up a small coop for her anyway as Big Papa has tore all of her back feathers off, she needs a vaycay from him, LOL. When I move her since I suspect that even though my book on breeds says that Minorcas seldom go broody, that growling says she is, do I move her into the new coop alone? And how many eggs should I give her?

Hatched 26 out of 32.

5 or 6 were Black sex links, and all but one look like girls...

I better go play the lottery, those odds never work in favor for me!

ACK!! Just when we find out our little one does NOT like to be hot, it has to be hot. LOL To top it off, it registered 88 in my house yesterday evening, so DH insisted on turning the AC on.

The AC took the house temp up to 98...never cooled the house off - we ended up opening up all the doors & windows to cool it down and now...with 90+ weather all week...now I have to find a good HVAC person that won't rob us blind, yet knows what he/she is doing!!

Maybe I should try what the chickens do...just dust bathe outside. Has anyone tried it?? LOL

Have a great day all...stay cool if you can. Company leaves today!! It's bittersweet as it was a really nice visit, but it will be so nice to get back into our normal routine!!

On a side note: left the outlet mall with only buying an extra bread loaf pan!! WOOT!!

I hope you were able to stay cool today!! We had a similar problem last year with our AC. The guy cleaned the unit inside and out and had to replace a piece on it, cost about $130 for the part and labor. I can get his phone number for you if you want.

Sure!! I'd love any referral you'd care to send our way!! The kiddos ran around the house "naked" and well...I was as inactive as possible sitting under a fan...lol. DH said, "Did anyone ever tell you NC is HOT?" LOL. Guess it's just a taste of what is to come....how did our grandparents ever LIVE without AC?? LOL Thanks again!!

These are so cute!! Does look like you have a blue EE in there.

I have 9 blue eggs on the counter for you. The funky toppy and the EE have been laying good.

Too hot to do anything today. Someday I hope to have AC, but I doupt that will ever happen. The AC in my truck doesn't work either(no freon), so my errands to town was no relief.
