Good morning folks
frow.gif

We are back on the road again after visiting with my family
for the last 2 weeks. We had a great time but it's time to go
home. We went through Yosimite National Park and took our
time to see the sights there. We have stopped in Bishop, Ca.
for the night and head off to Las Vegas in the morning.

Hope all of you are having a good summer and it cools off for
you soon. It was 104 yesterday in the San Joaquin valley
as we passed through it. Last weekend we were
camping and the hills just above the lake area we were at
caught fire.
I hear they are still trying to put out the fire near there.

NH........some kids outgrow the pony phase.......some
of us are hooked for life and I am happily one of them.

Miss you all and

In the morning the older birds go out in the run, the littler ones stay in the coop. So I'm getting rid of the three RIRs cause.I hav e the 8 BOs that are ready to come out of the brooded this weekend! They are kinda close in size tho not age oof the araucanas. My the complexities

I hate it when the chicken sitter doesn't show up! Lost two of my teenage turkeys and my 11yr old golden lakenvelder. Waiting for more fall out from lack of feed and water while in a heatwave!

Hope ya'll have a great day

Good Morning Everyone!

Glad to see CSB and RF are headed home. Travel safely!

Had a pullet stuck under the barn again. Second time this summer, and I have yet to figure out how they are getting under there. The must be a hole in the wire somewhere that I'm not finding. However, this was one of Beth's sweet Ameraucana girlies, and she came right out for me when I opened her up an exit and bribed her with scratch.

Got chores done in a lovely drizzle this morning, then loaded up two of the Boys and the barn cat and went off to the vet for annuals. Expensive doing them all together. I am grateful the puppy is on a different schedule. I should try to move them all around so I have one each quarter instead of wrestling several in there at once. They do send someone out to take a leash or carry the kennel, but it's still a big hit to the wallet each time. But, Murphy, Jake and Sherbert are done. Reilly has an appointment on Friday to see about another referrel to the orthopedics clinic at State. I think we're heading for another surgery. Sigh.

Looking forward to a cool day, comparatively speaking. Enjoy it, everyone!

It's 10:18 in the morning, and I just looked out the front window to see a rabbit in the yard. Silly rabbit!

What??!!! That's dreadful! In this heat, and someone is that irresponsible!? I'm gobsmacked. And I'm sorry. I assume that your chicken sitter is in the hospital. That's the only excuse I can think of.

Day 2 of predator attack!! I am not sure what it was, only heard a commotion while doing laundry and happened to look out to see Mama Maran jumping into the bushes while Mama Cochin clucking up a storm. Mama Maran came back out and was frantically pacing by the bushes. Put everyone into lockdown!! It seems this "cool down" has brought out some HUNGRY predators and I don't even know what it attacking the chicks. We are down to 9...I wouldn't mind if "it" would at least take the roos...LOL - sorry I am trying to find something to smile about. I knew it was too good to last, but didn't think we'd have another attack so soon. Don't know what we're going to do yet, as we don't know what it is!! No feathers or anything "left behind" but these are small chicks, so it wouldn't be necessary to take apart.

What I want to know is - WHAT IS MY ROOSTER DOING?? I mean isn't it HIS JOB to protect his flock?!? Neither of my 2 roosters made ANY alarm, it was all the hens going to town out there, not to mention my one broody was out & about fluffed up, clucking away like she was with a clutch (she obviously has issues) and then sounded the alarm. My HEN is now my alarmer?? What gives?? Sorry to vent, but I knew you all would understand. I'm saddened by this loss, but have vowed to keep everyone under lock & key until we can come up with a solution. Maybe we will end up fencing in our property sooner than expected!! It's an idea, especially since every builder we've called to have our garage built has either not called us back or made an appointment with us but then never showed/called. Rotten luck - rotten day. I hope tomorrow is better...at least I am having some company...I think!?! LOL

I am so sorry your sitter didn't show up RF, and you suffered possibly avoidable losses.
