I guess when they say everything hits at once they really do mean it! I'm gonna have to take a hiatus from my chicken farming due to a little bun in the oven

......I'm kind of in shock and not sure how to feel about it at the moment. But I guess I have to get everything around the house buttoned up before it happens, and I doubt the chickens will help me get "house chores" done. So in the next few days I will be putting up a list of what I have and what needs to go

. Thanks for letting me vent a little.....I guess the next step is to inform my mother! Wish me luck!

When it's a surprise, it's a huge surprise! Congrats anyway. It's a wonderful experience and you'll love having someone else to get hooked on chickens at an early age. Make sure you have a good camera!

took care of all my animals and gardens while with my buns, just a thought, might give you a hide out for when hormones hit the fan lol. But congrats and good luck with mom.

I think telling mom is gonna be the hardest part.... and I would love to keep all my chickens but I think we have more than I can deal with on my own amongst other thing that need to be taken care of. And my house is no where near any sort of child-proof.....It's not even adult-proof. I guess I'm just scared =(

Don't worry; if it is your first, or not. Either way... there is no child proofing, just adult proofing. Smart children watch adults open and they mock what they see. The funny part is that in some cases the thing in the electric socket may beg of the child to see why and how it is stuck in there. Sorry if this scares you, but you are a conscientious person and that is going to carry you through. If you were not scared a little anyway... I would think you were too cocky.

Cutting back may make things run smoother, but I would not shut down all together. You will be giving your little one a grand educational experience by the early experiences he/she will have. Even when we think we are ready... no one is completely. Good luck, and god bless.
