Thanks Miss L. It's sad to see and now they are wondering into the neighbors yard and everywhere, but I think they're too small to be in with my big girls =( I guess I'll have to set up a temporary pen for them for a few months. I'm kinda nervous about them being cold at night too.... blah

People close to Raleigh-we are moving and have some chickens to get rid of. Many of them are young hens who should be laying soon (backyard mixes and others).

I'm not interested in getting money for most of them, just a good home. I also have 5 runner ducks-2 pair and 1 extra drake. You must bring your own boxes and pick them up.

Please send me a message if you'd like any of them. We are in Zebulon, about 30 minutes East of Raleigh.

Where you moving to if I might ask. Are you gonna leave the board?

We are moving to my husband's hometown in Para, Brazil. He will leave tentatively next month and our son and I in December.

Let me do an inventory tonight of what I have exactly and I will get back to the board. Some I will give away, some I will take to auction. We will also soon have our house up for rent in Zebulon. Lease start would likely be 1/1/13 if anyone knows of anyone interested.

HELP!!!!!! So momma red has started laying again and is not hanging out with her babies so much anymore, but when she does come around them she pecks one pretty hard. what should I do or is this normal? maybe it's a roo? HELP?!?

It will not leave her alone or it's the red-headed stepchild?

Ok, question from a newbie. I have BLRW, EE, Lemon Cuckoo Orpington, and Americauna hens all between 23 and 25 weeks old. When should I begin seeing eggs? I've never raised them from chicks before so I was wondering if I'm expecting them too early. I've started them on layer crumble and oyster shell. Anything else I should be doing? Thank you for any advice!

Your EEs and Ameracanas I would start looking at 25-28 weeks old. The Wyandottes at 30 weeks or so. The Oprs at 30-35 weeks. This is just an estimate. Everybird is different and it also depends on how they were raised.
