What are you guys dusting your chickens with and what for? I sprinkle DE in my coop when I clean it and have never had any problems, don't think that my babies are wormy or buggy

What should I be looking for?
I am just so happy to finally have them all in pens and finally getting eggs!
I dust with 5% Sevins, for lice. The birds I dusted yesterday were coming from somewhere else, so I dusted them on general principles. But I'll dust mine regularly. They free range and are out with turkeys who consort with wild turkeys, sheep, and who knows what, so they pick up lice periodically. Using something like DE in their dust bath areas just isn't good enough under those circumstances.

Good Morning, Happy People! It's going to be a cold one today!

Yesterday I talked myself out of going to the show in Winston-Salem, so I'll stay home and do other things. I'll be at the one in Smithfield, though.

Have a great day!

Well, it looks like today is going to be warmer than expected! I got the JDC cleaned out and the remaining indoor chicks set up there. Found two with poopy butt, so I'll need to watch them more closely. The 3 month old birds from Daddy discovered the feeder with pellets and thought they'd found a stash of candy!

They were completely ignoring the chick food all of 18 inches away!

I have so missed the antics of chickens! May I never be without them again!

Langshanman, when is a good time (or when is NOT a good time!) to call to request a show catalog? Or would a pm suffice?

Hello everyone,
I've been a member of BYC since last winter but just found the NC part of the forum. We live in Summerfield just north of Greensboro. We have five hens and three are still laying.
It is great to have found you all.
