The Post Office ALWAYS takes three days to get me my chicks from Ideal. Always. So why did they manage to do it in two this time? The PO just called to tell me my chicks are in...and not only is it my long day at work, but I have to stay late for two basketball games because they are doing faculty appreciation at halftime on the second game and I'm one of the faculty being appreciated. While I love that...I have chicks at the PO!!!!!! I have calls in to hubby, but he's got a long day, too. I think I'll have to cancel office hours to make a pickup, then bring them back to work with me! It's about 50-60 minutes from work to the correct PO. If I take them home, then I'll have to let dogs in/out while I bring them in, then come back to work. Too much time. Logistics, logistics........grump, grump, grump....

Depending on what she has, if she recovers she could be a carrier. MG is one like that. I'd be careful, but I am paranoid these days.
Thats the first thing I thought of too. Your safest bet would be to have her tested to see what it is she has so that, if she does get better, she doesn't spread it to everything on your property..... Good luck with her - I know that is no fun :(

Toss them in the hatcher. They should be fine. You are not the first or last to forget a date. I'll come home and find 2-3 hatching and scramble to toss the rest of them in the hatcher. LOL
Thanks! They are in there and the one has hatched. Just hope at least one more will hatch to keep that noisy loner quiet :)

Hollowoak - Good luck getting your babies! Sounds like a tough dilemma. Hope you can work it out - I'd cancel office hours! I think the students would understand!!

Okay, managed to get up with hubby just as I was running out to head to the PO. He will be able to leave work early and pick them up. Yay! I don't like being rushed about, and I would have been.

Tarheelbirdy...a carrier can pass a disease to healthy birds. Some diseases can also be passed through the egg, such as MG. Others cannot. (I am obviously MG paranoid. Nowadays if a chicken sneezes, I am likely to kill it immediately.)

LOL, Tick...unless you've got feathers and a comb, no worries. You weren't with us then, but last fall I lost my entire flock to MG. That's why the paranoia.
