Good Monday morning everyone!! Busy week ahead for us as we get our soil delivered this Friday and then our mock "raised bed" building begins. Looks like I am in for a LOT of shoveling this weekend - who knows, maybe I'll FINALLY be able to get DD to get her hands dirty!!

Mary - GORGEOUS pictures...you make me want to have all sorts of livestock! I'm still researching mini cows because I found a guy in TN who sells them (for non-breeding stock purposes) for less then the bazillions I was coming across. These are the "rejects" from the registry - so a belted mini for example doesn't have the full belt or a jersey mini is either too tall or this or that. Seems like since we just want a milker, it would be worth taking another peek! Who knows though!! I am jealous of the eggs you found. <sigh> if ONLY I could get mine to lay!! Maybe when the guineas are moved to their new home, there will be less "stress" and the girls will get right into production.

Beth - I do hope you are feeling better. This weather has NOT been good for much of anything lately!

DH decided to scrap the pool we were trying to save....after months of trying to figure out where the leak is coming from, he ran out and bought a small child's pool. All day Saturday the ducks wandered around it, inspecting it and none of us have actually SEEN whether or not they have tried swimming in it, but at least it is large enough for ALL of them to go in there, should they choose! Considering they were trying to swim/bathe in the minuscule amount of water that was remaining in the other pool, I can't imagine they would not want to swim in this one with actual water they can dive in!! LOL Who knows!! On a sad note, I have a limping guinea. Not sure what happened to her, but I see her out limping about. It doesn't seem to affect anything that she's doing, but I can't get close enough to her to look either!

I'm worried that it might be my fault, after all, I did kick one when they were attacking one of my babies - I didn't think I kicked it hard enough to hurt it, but now I worry. There have been a lot of guinea fights too, perhaps she got injured that way too. I'm not sure, but keeping an eye on her just to be safe. <sigh> Too much drama around here!! OH and my late blooming "pullet" who turned out to be a rooster...well he might have developed a little late, but he's DEFINITELY trying to "dominate" the few pullets his age!! <shakes head in disbelief> I think he will be the first to enter freezer camp if he's not careful as the other head roosters will have NONE of that!!

Okay, enough yacking from me... Have a great day everyone!!

Last Sun. my DD got a beautiful paint Silkie rooster. She wanted to keep him in her room during quarantine. He was in our front living room until we set up a spot for him in her room. That lasted exactly 1 night..that dang rooster crowed ALL night long, in the dark. She drags out of bed the next morning swearing to strangle him !!

He just moved outside Sat...so now he is crowing right outside the back door.

So now we are down to one small crowing rooster in the house.
