North Carolina

Good morning, everybody!

Is it WINDY where you are??! It's gusting terribly here. I am not letting the girls out, I'm afraid they might blow away!! But I woke up with the feeling that this is blowing in SPRING! I feel like it's just waiting there underneath it all, and we are getting ready to see it pop out all over very soon. I can't wait!
Oh my word, I didn't know what I was hearing at first and then realized it was the roar of the wind! Looked out and almost DIED because my beloved Cadbury (Muscovy Drake) was STUCK against the run - hanging sideways, caught by his talons! I plopped one kid in the play pen, left the other at the table eating, threw on DH's shoes (shh don't tell) and of course when I get to the door...he's fixed himself and is flapping his wings in protest.

Never have I been so relieved! Our youngsters were trying their hardest to stay on their perch, but kept getting blown off, that they finally decided to huddle in a corner of their coop. My "smart" chickens are inside the coop, a few "others" are standing in a huddled mass. Lol. I am just happy my big fellow is okay!! I sure hope that this wind is really blowing spring IN, because I am ITCHING to get my hands in some fresh dirt and start planting! I'm jealous that you have a garage AND heat lamps to "incubate" those seedlings. I have to plant the seeds in the ground, cross my fingers and pray a lot that anything happens. This year SHOULD be different as we made "raised" beds and brought in some really good dirt.

Hold down the fort everyone...if it's not nailed down, it's probably going to be flying away today!! LOL.

I finally got around to ordering the chosen fruiting plants for this year. Yeah, it's March already. I'm late!

Anyway...It was cheaper to order 25 raspberry starts than fewer, so that's what I went with. But I don't need all 25. These are the Carolina Raspberry, developed for this climate. If anyone wants any, $2.50 per plant will cover my costs. I'm probably having hubby put in half of them, so will have a dozen or so left. Holler if you want some!

I would, but you're a bit too far. I'm sure someone will take you up on it.

:lau So I had my diapers out on the line ALL day...about 3:00 I was on the phone with my mother and hung up on her (accidentally) because I had just noticed it was RAINING. LOL, the diapers were just as wet ~6 hours after I had hung them up. :th So much for sunny and 60!! LOL. DH said it happens every time, I just jinx myself. Now I need to figure out a way to harvest the sun's "bleaching" power while hanging my diapers up on the screened in porch! LOL. Thanks for the clarification!! Like I said, my mother use to call them that when we lived in CT and being the "good" child that I was I NEVER questioned her!! :plbb LOL. Okay, at least in this area, I never questioned. LOL I think one day, I need to take your class...maybe I can be convinced Science isn't really all that bad. Haha. Sadly, I have been feeling very "achy" lately... DH is wondering if it's Braxton Hix Contractions, but I think it's a little early for those. 18 more weeks to go (that translates to 18 more weeks until SUMMER too)...Today we have decided to be "lazy" and just rest up. I'll do minimal work - laundry (never ending) and I have some pumpkin muffins calling my name to bake, so I'll put DD to work and get busy doing a little baking. Lock up countdown: Chickens have been locked up since Friday and STILL not one egg. I'm going to die when we go to clean out the coop this weekend and find 50 bazillion eggs buried in the shavings!! :fl Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!
NH, I have 4 kids and the third and fourth pregnancy I got braxton hix starting at around 17 weeks pregnant. It's not unusual the more times you're pregnant, the earlier you can get them. Hope that's all it is! :)

Luka claimed five. You and Chasity are both interested. How many did you want?
