North Carolina

Where we live the fellow that owned the property back when had stills all over here because his wife wouldn't let him make the white stuff at home... we can hike around and see where they piled the rocks up. and they are still making the lightening you just have to know the right folks to get it..I don't drink but would like to have some for purely medicinal purposes.

I don't drink anymore either. That stuff will LIGHT you up! Dunno about it curing anything...although after a bit of that you may not CARE what you have!

Yep. The "Old Folks" swore that it had good "medicinal" uses. My Great-Grandmother Arledge was sort of a "Mountain-Country Nurse" (accredited by the State of North Carolina as a "mid-wife", I believe). She kept some "handy" along with a great many "herbal medicines". I think it was used primarily as a way to make an "herbal decoction" and as a preservative of herbal medicines.
No doubt...it also served as a "stimulant" and an antiseptic.

Some folks could get "stimulated" so much that they couldn't move.

Funny talk about shining! My wife's great uncle was Sheriff of Yancey county. During his time, he had more moonshine bust than any other NC sheriff. I think he might have missed a few!
