Hey guys!

Sorry to be redundant, I know we had this conversation a month ago or so, but after a half hour of searching back pages I can't find it!
Someone recommended a flea medicine for cats-- I can't remember who it was or what it was.
We've been using frontline plus forever, and it's not working. When we just got home the entire house is infected and has to be flea bombed. We have no dogs and only one cat, but he loves to go outside and has long hair. I know advantix isn't supposed to be used on cats.

Can anyone remember/find/recommend the best treatment for fleas on a cat? He is digging his ears and nose open. I made a vet appointment, but can't get in until next week and want to order something ASAP for it.

THANKS!
I use advantage, i think.

Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

The sun shone allllll day yesterday, and nary a drop of rain fell! We're supposed to have several days of that. I sure hope so! The puddles around the layer house dried up quickly, but the earth is still spongy. The air will be humid for a while until things balance back out.

Hope you have a sunny day!

I use Revolution for cats and love it. Also use it on the dog and it works well.

Hey everyone if you're wondering about flea management, I highly recommend Guinea fowl! They are an all natural terminator that will get rid of teas, ticks, and other unwanted pests. If you don't want to even mess with flea medication and all those meds I recommend you look into getting some guineas.

In fact my mothers birthday just passed and I owe her 6 little guinea keets (chicks). We are kind of waiting to get them as well until we can kind of figure out our coop situation.

Anyways I hope this helped out at least a little.

shooting a dog is only my last resort as I spend alot of my free time at the local rescue and am a huge dog lover. I talked with the owners at length and the problem was resolved, they paid for the damages and built a fence to house the dogs. We are on good terms now, and I even watch their daughter in the afternoons, and she helps me with chores around the farm, so everything worked out.

Always the best option!!!! Glad to hear it!

I use revolution on my cat. She has been on it for several years and it also controls heart worms. I have not had a flea or tick problem. I think you have to get it from the vet though. If you are already established with one, you may just be able to call ahead and pick it up without an appt. We live out in the country and she is in, out, in, out, in, out - much like a kid in the summer!
Guineas would be GREAT but my DH won't hear of them... says they make too much noise!

Silly man!

So happy it didn't rain yesterday! Spent about 5 hours after work cutting back the jungle and cleaning the yard area. Our place looks so much better!!!! The grass is a much more respectable level.

I no longer feel like I need to look before I can take a step because I am walking through untamed wild lands that might be infested with who knows what! The grass (weeds) was so long in areas that I am going to have to mow again this weekend just to clean it up... It's a start though! Maybe more sun and no rain (fingers crossed) and we can dry out a little more?????

Well, guineas are neat looking but yes they are loud and not too bright. Plus I have found (from reading since I have never owned any guineas) that they are no better at pest control than a free range flock of chickens of the same number. Someone had a great point I think, "Where is the greatest tick related diseases? Africa Where are guineas from? Africa So I think you need more of a love for them to have them, than just for pest control. I have read several times of people getting them and than wanting to get rid of them because they were no better than chickens on pests but alot louder.

On a side note for the ones who have guineas, do they actually eat fleas?
