I would make a complaint to animal control or if you have a gun just shoot the dog.  Particularly if the dog is on your property.  Dogs that kill livestock or destroy property shouldn't be tolerated.

That's pretty harsh!
Obviously you can't have dogs killing your animals, but I could never kill a dog and I don't even like them, I like cats haha.

I see plenty of potential with that old pool deck. But I am seriously lacking in carpentry skills.

I am seeing coop on top...run on bottom.

In news here, the last pen in the barn is almost complete. I just need to add the wire and it is done. This pen is 16 x12 and I will have my brooder in there and then grow outs on the floor. Then I will divide the run and open a pop door out of the pen next to it. Now the barn will be done, unless I add on to the barn,,I have no more coop space.

p.s. Hollow has beautiful birds.

That was our basic idea too. We were kind of thinking of adding a roof type thing on the top to provide shelter and most likely add on to the gate, so at night we could lock them in (not allowing them down to the run, so predators can't get to them. Any idea of how I can add some to the bottom to enclose the soon to be "run?"

Do you think anyone could send me pictures of their coops and runs so I could get some ideas?

DST, do a search on this forum. There's a section on building coops, and a whole bunch of folk making do with what's at hand. BHep's idea is better than mine!

Pictures...and it's dried out a bit, too! Moving chickens are not my best photo opportunity, though.

Heading to the layer house...

I took treats...fresh, cold corn-on-the-cob. So fluffy butts are all I get now.

Hey Everyone!

DTS - I agree with Hollow, I was floored when you said you were 14! You write extremely well. If you go to the top of the BYC page, there is a row of brown buttons. On that row, there is a button for "coops" there are tons of ideas. You can scroll through and get ideas from there. I usually combine ideas to get what works for me and the materials I have on hand. Do you have access to tools? That might be your biggest challenge. If you have a friend or neighbor who can assist with providing tools and some safety instructions (they are dangerous!), that would be ideal. BTW, I LOVE your "can do" attitude! Good for you!

Thanks, like I said I'm in this chicken craze, so I will do anything to make this work out. Oh and I live on a ranch with animals and tons a land. It requires a lot of labour and work, so I'm sure we have the tools laying around!

Thank you all for all of the advice!

And hollow, the pictures you posted are amazing! I think the chickens are gorgeous and can't wait to figure out if we can come out to get them and when.
