I'm so excited!!! We put about four or five of our fertilized Cuckoo Maran eggs in an incubator and they are scheduled to hatch tomorrow! Anytime between tomorrow and Friday!!! We candled them and it looks like two are going to hatch. Got my fingers, toes, and anything I can cross, crossed!

So here are my 3 week old chicks, I'd love to hear some thoughts on gender....

Chick #1 Full tail, feathers all over, darker comb
1000

Chick #2 No tail, feathers only on the wings, but the smallest lightest comb
1000

Chick #3 Tail feathers & wing feathers, less on the body than #1
1000

Chick #4 Full tail & feathers all over the body, but the comb looks the biggest
1000

Finally, I have 2 blue copper marans that made it though they hatched out as black or splash. The second has no tail or body feathers, but a tiny comb. The first doesn't have much tail feathers but has body feathers and a larger comb. They could very well both be boys, but didn't want to give up on them just yet because I really want a Marans layer....

Wilddriverwolf90, I noticed you have Australorps and Jersey Giants! We are desperately wanting some Australorps and Jersey Giants. Preferably some already laying hens (since we are trying to calm down our rooster, since he is getting frustrated due to the fact that we only have two hens with him for the time being.

I know this is a long shot, but do you by any chance have some hens you planning on selling, willing to sell, or part with?

We are willing to pay a pretty penny for some laying hens if it means we can keep our rooster, because if we don't get some more hens we might have to get rid of our rooster...

I'm planning on getting some Orpingtons and RIRs from Hollow, but my mother desperately wants some Australorps and Jersey Giants.

If you aren't wanting to sell or anything thats perfectly okay, was just wondering if the stars were inlined in my favor

I would be willing to part with a couple. I currently only have 3 white jeresy giant hens. they are 1 year old and just started laying a couple months ago. I'd be willing to part with one of them. and I have 1 black australorp girl I'd be willing to part with as well. she is also a year old. :D looks like the stars are aligned in your favor. If you don't mind the trip out here. I'm an hour and half from the raceway on independence

Really? Great, and trust me we are willing to make a decent road trip to get the hens we want. So where exactly do you live and what are you thinking on prices? Private message me if you don't want this on the thread.

All of this talk about different chicken breeds...MAN! I just told my DH tonight that I can't wait to move to a place that we have more space and I can have all sorts of chickens. Then it will really be a problem...

I took a picture of our most "mature" girl tonight. She has pretty red waddles & a nice Leghorn comb - all tipped over and cute. I just wanted your input - does it look a little dry? Maybe just because of the heat?! She is absolutely precious!
She is so cute!,

Good morning folks

It was such a lovely day yesterday and the grandbabies
were able to play in the pool and wear out this granny
after we had got some chores done in the yard

I had hoped for more of the same today but woke up
to Mother Nature putting on quite a light show

I can hope this will pass by but the Doppler is
showing the storm building just north of us.

hope it passes quickly and the rest of the day is a
repeat of yesterday

hope everyone has a good day
