I really don't know how this bantam is still alive! He ate half of a banana in the two days we have had him. He won't eat or drink and I really hate to say this but I have has sick chickens before and even though I tried my hardest they still passed away. This little guy is skin and bones. I feel in my heart he's just not going to make it and I can't bring myself to do what needs to be done here! :( it breaks my heart when I think about it. :( he is just sitting there and looks at me like he's asking for help. He can't walk straight without falling over his wings are droopy and he's all puffed up his crop is empty and I'm freaking out. Even though I really didnt want this chicken I still don't want it to die. :( someone please give me some advice. I don't want him to suffer but I can't just kill it. I keep thinking what if he is capable of pulling through and I kill it? What would be the point? :(

Can someone help me with incubating? I have been tryin since April and NUTTIN yet. I have Little Giant and I have an egg turner, I put eggs pointy side down, temp is 100-99.5, humidity 61-64%, on 18th day I move to another bator for lockdown, placing them in an open egg carton pointy side down still...............and after 25 days NOTHING - Zero - 0 - ZILTCH!!!!!!!! I know the eggs are fertile...my friend has hatched some of mine, I opened some eggs after the 25th day and they looked fully developed....Any help is appreciated!

Gezzzzz...this gives me flashbacks from when DH & I were trying to conceive!!!!!!

try feeding him some yogurt and if he eats that,
then mix in some starter to get him other nutrients

good luck

I had the same problem....... I tried everything......
even dry method.....no luck.....sent the set-up to
Beth and she found that it's the egg turner setting
the eggs too close to the heating element........ try
without the turner and just turn by hand.......good luck

Two questions:
1. Is it a still air or forced air? Your temperature should be a little higher for still air (like 101-102)

2. Are you keeping 60% humidity throughout the entire incubation?
It should be about 30-45% for the first 18 days and bumped to around 65% for lockdown.

It sounds like your eggs are drowning in shell when they try to pip. :(

I've had countless problems with my old LG incubator and finally replaced it with a Brinsea Octagon Eco 20 and am getting close to lockdown on the first batch in there. :) so far so good!

Interesting.......

Someone told me my humidity of 61-64% is too high that Im drowning them....is that possible?
