It could be just one bird carrying it, it could be that both parents carry it and this one just got the lucky combo to have some feathers on the legs that might go away as it grows up.So are you saying it could be like a recessive gene that was passed from one of the parents? Would this be true for all of like lets say the roos offspring or just a specific rooster and hens genes mix?

Some silkies don't have beards or muffs, some are clean faced.
I do fermented feed and there are some great threads on it. I ferment grower feed in water and the chickens love it and they are shiner and poop less and less smelly. Really easy to do. If you have more questions feel free to message me or ask any questions.
