Yeah I know they're not cold blooded I don't know why I said that

What I was meaning was birds are different than mammals as far as regulating body temperature. From what I understand as long as they're dry and not in a draft, they are fine in the winters and don't need an external heat source. I mean I guess there are people that leave their dogs and cats and whatnot out all winter, but I wouldn't....

Hehe...I figured that was one of those Duh! moments, when you look back and say, "But that's not what I meant!" Happens to me all the time!

Quote There is a thread on BYC about training dogs. I'm at work so I can't post the link but it was titled: My dog chasing chickens. --solved! - Page 6 The writer used a vibration/shock collar to train the dog. She said it was very successful. You could even use it to train him not to run when grandma opens the door. It might be worth a try.

I just assumed you meant "cold hardy" not cold blooded. :) I've "said" enough stuff like that where my brain doesn't stop to consult my typing fingers before I hit send that I generally give people the benefit of the doubt. Comes with trying to do/think about too many things at once I think.

Oh - and thanks to everyone who answered that question. :) I was going to ask it myself. I assumed they'd be fine but you know what they say about assuming... It makes an A** out of U and ME. :)

Oh wise chicken peeps,

This is a new one for me. Before I post on the emergency thread, anyone know what this is?

He did not look like this in the morning. I heard we had some sparring going on, but with 12 boys right now, I don't know who specifically was involved.

Sorry for the blurriness- he kept moving his head. :D

What is this? (Is it contagious?) How do I treat? What can I do to get the swelling to go down on his wattle?

Thanks!

Its called fowl pox and comes in wet or dry, I have never dealt with it but it's spread by mosquitos. It is very contagious, and is one that has to run its course. Hopefully smeone else will come on and say for sure.
