North Carolina

Hello all you other North Carolinians. I'm here in Surry County. Does anybody know where I can get any peachicks around here?

Oh Wild, I am so sorry for your loss!

You and your mother are in my prayers.

I have an incubation question.....
We opened our windows last night since it's so nice out. My incubator is on the dining room table so we left the dining room windows closed, but the temp in the whole house dropped.
This morning my incubator that has been holding at 99.5 this whole time was down around 94.
The directions say not to do any drastic temp changes so I keep checking it and bumping it up, but it's still not back to 99.5
Do I just turn it way up anyway?
Do I close the vents until the temp is where it should be?
How detrimental is this temp drop going to be on my hatch?

I've never had this happen to me before. Thanks for the help!

Edit- my inside thermometer is about 96 the one built in is 93/94 so hopefully the inside one is more accurate...

Took some pictures today of the babies and did some fall decorating. Heard some noises out of my last egg on Friday but no more since

I even entered a dozen eggs in our local fair. These eggs are from the EE's, hope they win a ribbon. Love this time of year

Anybody feel free to guess what they are. I think I have 3 roosters 3 hens.

Rooster? Love the coloring on this one. Has big feet. Lots of feathers on them already.

Rooster? A face a mama would love. Lots of brown on this one.

Rooster? Looks like Mr. T

Hen? This one is half and half. Tan and Gray

Hen? Looks like her mama

Hen? The little baby. So cute this one is

You'll have to wait some 2strays, on the genders. But since not all are walnut combed, like a silkie should be, if any of the single combed ones are roosters you should be able to tell sooner then a regular silkie.

Thought it was kinda early to tell. See some Cochin coming thru to. Remembering how Hickory looked coming up, long neck big feet time will tell. How long should I wait to let them scratch around in the grass or the dirt in the pen they are in? I have an enclosed pen to put them in. Should they feather out more. They are 3-2 weeks old.

I have a hen that runs the yard (can't keep her in a pen) She has raised one batch and the second batch is about the same age as yours. They go every where, so yours should be fine.
