Who knew one day I would be trying to figure out what to do with my new nipples....

This is my last hatch of the year, and by far the most expensive one.
I sold a bunch of my kids clothes on ebay to get the money on paypal to buy some eggs I really wanted.
I had 3 dozen between day 18 and 14 going strong and spent over $150 on the eggs through different ebay sellers.

I have my incubator in my formal dining room with the doors shut (where it's been sitting and running nonstop since May) and my kids KNOW they do not go in there and they do not mess with my incubator. Sometime between noon and dinner my daughter went in, turned the knob on the incubator all the way up, and closed the door and left.

I bought another incubator today to have a separate one for lockdown/hatching. I go in after dinner to set it up and see my thermometer is at 115! I immediately open the top to cool them off, and the eggs feel so hot. I start gently opening my eggs going into lockdown to see if one will bleed or have a heartbeat. Nothing, all 36 eggs are dead, the insides are super hot.

My husband deploys to Afghanistan on Sunday and I planned these eggs out to hatch around then so I had something positive to look forward to and something to cheer me up. My family seems to think I am overreacting (and I'm sure it's a lot of things combined) but I just sat at my kitchen table and sobbed like a 5 year old for the past 30 minutes. It's such a pointless waste of life!!! And it's not like I just have $150 to buy more of the eggs.

There were Blue Isbars, Swedish Flower Hens, Marraduna Basque, Blue Salmon Favorelles, Exchequer Leghorns & Super Blue layers. I'm so frustrated, I'm sorry I just needed to vent to someone....

Had to stop for a minute there

tee hee! Went ahead and made a plain ole boring hanging bucket dealy. Will wait on the project with the pvc lines and gutter and downspout and drilling through the side of the brick coop until after hubs gets back on Monday - and probably after the in-laws leave in two weeks.

Best part about these things is definitely not the sanitary water, or not having to worry about them running out of water, but the vast amount of jokes that write themselves when dealing with them. :)

I am so sorry for your loss. That is what scares me about hatching my own eggs... my kids never leave anything alone.

Hi everyone!
Thanks for all the support, I love this forum!!!

Hope everyone had a great Halloween! We must not have had many kids come down our street, we had almost 200 bags of glow in the dark cheetos sitting out for Trick or Treaters and there are still more than 100 left. Haha guess I know what we'll be snacking on for the next month!

My cat's also been missing since yesterday morning. My husband is joking he ran away because he saw the costume I bought him. He's only ever not come home once before and someone took him in. Took him a week to get out of their house and come back. Hoping it's soon you know there are some crazy sick people that will hurt animals, they say to leave yours in on Halloween.

Now that Halloween is over I'm going to be THAT person and decorate Nov 1st haha! My husband leaves in 2 days if I don't get him to help hang lights it will never get done.

HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!!
