Hi........happy to meet you.

Lindz - Her, not him!!! LOL... always hoping for more pullets than cockerels. Thanks, I love them too. My hubby laughs because I talk to them like children. One day I called the chickens "the kids". It was almost too much for him.

CSB, I though the light color might be bloom and I had to wash one off because the girls wet feet muddied it up. The light color came right back. I almost wish it hadn't because the egg was a beautiful light purple. I have NO idea who is laying it or how what cross she is. I will have to find out.

FVRM - There are people in Lumberton, but I don't know who they are or how to contact them. They had birds at the chicken show in December. Favorelles are beautiful. (RF - great minds think alike)

Hollow, sorry about the hawk attack. I know it is a part of what we all do but it still stinks.
Congratulations on your award!

skyflyer - Welcome! This is an awesome group of folks. Be careful, chickens should come with a warning label. They are addictive!

The I get like those, I can wash a little of the bloom off but not all of it.
Most the egg goes back to the rosy color. My Marans and/or Marans crosses
are the ones I am getting those eggs from. If I find it in my pure Marans I
try to move them to a different pen and do not sell those eggs for hatching.
That coloration also occurs in Langshans but those breeders try to pull those
hens out of the flock. I think it's a pretty egg and like getting them......just not
what I want to sell as BCM. I think it's acceptable in the Blue Marans but
don't quote me on that one
