North Carolina

I FINALLY got a Lavender Orpington egg! Only took her 34 weeks!!! And the other one still hasn't laid for me yet.
They're my oldest birds, DH was getting ready to give up on them! I know daylight factors in, but my ones laying are half their age.

I'm hoping for some quail eggs soon!
They haven't had much daylight as I tried to keep the cages covered to keep heat in since it was so cold in January.
They're definitely a lot happier now that it's just the 5 girls left in their own big cage without boys trying to pull out their feathers!

I just candled the eggs I put in from my exchequer leghorn roo from my red sex link and my easter egger. I'm going to give them a couple more days, but I think its pointless as they're all clear at day 5 candling. I wasn't planning on incubating so maybe because I just had them setting out, not cool or turned or anything? I don't know, the ones I opened had the bulls eye on them?

Good morning folks

It's that magic day for many......school is back in session.
Can you imagine a room full of 25 of those little energy
machines we call kids and dealing with them all day????
My hat is off to teachers!!! Not only do they deal with and
entertain the kids but they educate them too.

hope everyone has a good day

Yup...back to work! I could never, ever, ever teach elementary school. Ever. I have friends that do, and I wonder how they stay sane. Same for middle school...and high school, for that matter! I applaud those that take on those jobs!

Hubby is off today, and plans on getting the roof on the chickenhouse in progress. I'll have to get pictures!
