LOL you must not have 3 trash cans....I mean kids  . I go through about 4 gallons a week on average, sometimes more. And I don't even know how much cheese. I should have gotten into dairy cows instead of chickens :lau .
H#!/ NO!!!!!

Grew up on a dairy, 110/125 twice a day...600gallons a day of milk.

Only chickens and bees for me....plus a few thousand plants and trees...

Quote: I have to even though the snow doesn't last long, neither does the milk. They play outside all day only coming in to get dry clothes on and warm up with a big cup of warm coco made with milk. So during snow, I gotta stock up on milk and coco because I wont drive with the crazies around me, they are bad enough in great weather.

Hahaha! I am finally able to gain a little insight on the mad rush to get milk at just a hint of a storm! I don't drink milk and I never understood why it would be the go-to item... But hot cocoa would make sense! :)
I've got my chickens (else I'd stock up on eggs) so you can find me in the wine aisle while everyone's buying up the bread and milk. ;)

Shoot, I go through nearly that, and it's just me and hubby. Ok, mostly me with the milk. I love milk. But even I don't lay in a week's worth for an NC winter storm. It just isn't going to last that long!
You need a mini cow! I want one but DH says no way, absolutely not. We don't have enough room but one day..... I have done some research on them anyways. A mini cow gives an average of a gallon of milk a day. Plenty to drink and make cheese for the family. Not to mention they are super adorable.

If you only want a gallon a day you should consider a goat. They have excellent milk and require a lot less space than a cow. They also have a really good feet to milk ratio. :)

This weather is just making me sofa king mad. I'm receiving some eggs from the post office, in the morning. I hope they didn't freeze overnight, I'm guessing it would damage the dna or something.

I had dairy goats until I became unable to milk. Would love a cow again (grew up hand milking) but A cow doesn't work. Herd animals shouldn't be kept alone. And I don't want to have hoofstock through the winter again.

RF...hadn't thought of cocoa! I don't do hot drinks, so didn't think of it.

Goodness! Why on Earth would anyone ship any living things with a full East Coast winter storm? Why didn't they wait?

Sitting here waiting to see if they decide to cancel school or not.
I find it amazing how many of the kids will ask when do they need
to come to the bus stop. Tell them two hours later than their usual
time and you will get a ' deer in the headlights' look.....they simply
can not add two hours to their regular schedule.... of course many
struggle to read a traditional clock and know the time.

hope everyone has a good day
