Good morning everyone! It's SO nice out!

Just got back from the All American 5k (wanted to do the half marathon, but they don't let you push strollers in that).

Incubator's all loaded up fingers crossed for an amazing hatch! Finally got some eggs from Greg at www.ultimateorpingtons.com can't wait to see what I get. The eggs are spangled orpington, jubilee orpington, chocolate orpington, buff leghorn, lavender leghorn & Russian orloff. I also have some Black Copper Marans and Lemon Cuckoo Orpington eggs from ebay and Exchequer Leghorns from a BYC'er. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be inundated with chicks!

Hope everyone enjoys this beautiful Sunday!!!
My 11 yr old granddaughter just ran her first 1 mile marathon today...!! She did really well in her age group. Hope she continues..plays a lot of soccer

Oh boy what fun i just had. Had to dust 16 chickens with sevin dust to try and get rid of mites and lice. They were not happy campers at all. Biggest issue was when trying to do their bellies. They didn't want to be turned over on their backs. Had to end up hanging a couple up by their feet in order to get it done. Good thing had my DD to help. Even when you look at them for bugs, you don't really realize how many feathers they have until you try and dust them. I mean i knew they had lots of feathers, but dang, those little fluffy ones take forever to get through. And those silkies don't like the poof on the head messed with either.

The one Americauna/EE was the worst. Found bugs on most of the others though. Doused the nest boxes pretty good. Used about a whole can on the four boxes. Is there a bigger container of sevin dust that you can get? If nothing else can use it on the garden.

If you are talking 5% sevin dust then the 1 lb cans are it. You used to be able to get it in 5 lb bags. It was so much easier to use with the birds. The size slowly went down to a 3 lb can and then a 1 lb can. I got lucky when the local TSC stopped selling it and sold the last of their stock for $.99 a can. I got all 8 cans they had left.

There is also a rumor the company is going to completely discontinue the 5% sevin dust. They make more money off the sprays.
