There's a lot of realy nice small farms on youtube producing crazy amounts of produce raised beds is a great first step too because it cuts out a lot of work. Are you using drip watering system? They work well with raised beds and hook one up to a rain barrel EVEN BETTER

I think I'll continue scheduling hatches for Mondays.. It helps it not feel so much like a Monday.

Adorable! I really like the Monday sentiment!

I got some mille fleur leghorn eggs in the incubator but got a few extra, (6) anyone want the eggs or can anyone hatch them for me? I KNOW the usps roughed them up, because the seller did not write "fragile" "eggs inside" or anything on the box, letting them know they had to be gentle. I will probably post them on craigslist tomorrow or tonight. I just want to have other local mille fleurs in case something happens to mine.

Hi folks! I am from Middle TN and will be headed to the Yadkin/Jonesville NC area Thursday for a few days and am wondering if anyone in that area might have some Turkey Poults or Guinea chicks ( or even hatching eggs) available?? Also looking for Penedensenca chicks or hatching eggs.

Why don't you just put them in with your other eggs ????
Then in a week you candle and get rid of the non starters....Just curious????

I've done it before with 2 marans and they both actually hatched almost a week after the others. (only to die crushed by the bigger ones later on

). It's just that I'm getting 2 dozen of 2 other rare breeds this week and I only have space for 31 eggs in all. I'll probably do a staggered hatch with those breeds.

I've been outside Philly for two years now. Had to leave chicken breeding behind and so glad to be moving to rural NC (Leicester) in July where I can resume my programs. I'll be looking for local Marans and Ameracaunas. Anybody know they'll have either ready to sell in Mid-July to August? Thanks!
