I stumbled into this thread and figured I'd add that I'm from NC too (North Chatham/Chapel Hill), so apparently in very good company 'round these parts! 

We negotiated a chicken coop in the offer on our house and inherited 3 RIRs, 1 EE, and 1 bantam of unknown breed. And then we picked up some new friends at Pittsboro Feed a couple weeks ago, but lost our favorite, a little Salmon Faverolles. So, I'll be looking for more next spring.

Welcome to the best BYC forum! Jump right in! I love that the chickens were part of your house negotiations! How awesome! We inherited one chicken with our farm, but I'm pretty sure it was because they couldn't find her as she had stolen a nest!

I was going to say that happens a lot in our area, but being from Sanford, you are IN my area.... LOL!! If she's not spayed yet and you keep her forever,the low cost spay/neuter clinic is in Vass. PM me later for more info.

Hmmm, didn't pull my act together - I usually go to one of the services in our area. Already missing it, but have too much to do since I'm boarding a dog and have to do some cleaning and then getting together with a friend to go to lunch poss two friends... She'll want to see our new chickies!!

ChickyChickens, I sent you a PM regarding some questions and your blue Ameraucanas.

Everyone - Is there a tutorial somewhere on this forum that I've missed? I'd like to add a signature block (not sure what to say just yet - with chix instead of ponies) and have some settings I guess I need to check out - I can't make spelling corrections easily. Forum keeps giving me errors and pasting different things in place that then doesn't work... I'm not the most forum literate - probably something I'm not doing!! LOL.

I also have to change my "pre-made" pony avatar to a chicken avatar... Not sure which pic to use. I got some good ones yesterday!!

Hit your "my profile" button and under there near the top of the page is the "edit community profile" button. That should be what you are looking for your profile picture and location and that type of stuff. For your signature line, go to the bottom of your profile page and hit the "edit signature" button.

I had an idea to rebuild my flock after that dog attack! If anybody has show birds that need to be dubbed ill take certain birds as payment
