Okay thanks! It sounds with these mites as long as you get them off the birds legs, you don't have to "debug" the coop? One thing that worked for me was petroleum jelly. That stuff wont come off with water or anything that's why I only had to apply it once a week. It coats every nook and crack on the leg suffocating the mite.
Nice photo! theres a farm related photography thread on this site you might want to share it there too!

yeah I had the same question a while back. I was afraid I would get an infestation but no, it was just those birds I bought at a swap. I'm guessing theres a few mites here and there but as long as you keep the legs clean they won't get out of control. I've heard most mites and little bugs hate citrus oils, so you could spray that in their coop.Okay thanks! Haha thanks you! I didn't know about the photo thread! Thanks!

edited to add, I'm also in Sanford, starlingdaly!
I am interested in opinions on something that has been bothering me. An acquaintance of my husband has been feuding with his neighbor over (the neighbor's) guineas for a long time. They come in his yard, make a bunch of noise, and poop everywhere. Their owner cannot or will not keep them on their property and talking to them has not helped. Apparently, he's sick of it and has just been killing them whenever he sees them on his land. The owner just keeps getting more. The whole situation makes me sad because I just love guineas and have several. My husband's acquaintance has said that I am welcome to come to their place and catch any guineas hanging out on their property. I'm really not sure what to do. They aren't his birds to give away.. but they are on his land and if I don't take them, they'll be used as target practice. What would you do?
