HELP.......NEED SOME PRACTICAL ADVICE...... getting ready to go get my sand..I do not have a wheelbarrow.

.........what would be the next best way to handle it across about 10' from truck to coop door. Remember I am 65 yrs old and doing this on my own.....

If you can, a good stout stick and a bucket on either side going across the shoulders would do it, or a bucket with a lid and roll/ kick it to the pen. I have done the old push mower body with engine removed and a wood box screwed on in its place as a little but effective wheelbarrow. Good luck and don't over do it.

I'm so sorry you have to do this, but so happy that those children have a place to go. I'm sorry this means giving up your birds. I'm sure once your life stabilizes you can get new ones. If you don't get homes for them through here, try some of the chicken groups on facebook, if you have an account.

Are you trying to sell your chickens? Find a temporary home? I have a four boy blended family and would also be willing to trade one since I always wanted a girl (just kidding!).

I think trying to find a temporary home is unlikely. My hens are amazing and very spoiled. I allow them to free range a lot and their hen house and run would go with them. I'm so worried that if I post an ad on cl someone inexperienced with get them. They are 17 months old and lay a lot of eggs.

How much do you want for them? Just got my coop established and working on my run so they can free range with some protection....

I have 2 red sexlink, 2 black sexlink, 3 EE, one of whom is a Roo and will have to be rehomed. One of the EE i 8 months and not laying yet.. So I'm not getting eggs from any of them at this point. I love my chickens and pamper them...

I do understand at some point it's possible but I'm hoping that they find a home where they are loved and with someone who's experienced. These are my first, and I love them. Can't imagine anyone here judging you in any way other than so much respect and awe for you doing the right thing when need arises! That's what family if for although it must scare and worry you at this moment. Sending my love and hugs.

I'm not looking to gain any money, just a loving and caring home. I'm having to make a lot of hard choices. Thank you for your kind words. This has been one of the hardest things I've ever been through.
