Good morning folks

Another week is practically gone and we are all that much
closer to the Christmas holidays......I just love seeing the
lights on houses. It won't be long before we will be hearing
Christmas music over the intercom systems in stores. Before
we get to there we have to get past the fun Halloween.........
any recommendations for haunted houses in the Fayetteville
area......not too pricey.

hope everyone has a good day

CSB--I can't believe you are bringing Christmas up already! And Cricket, Double A does take roos and sends them to freezer camp. I was lucky yesterday and found someone who didn't have any chickens (they were here for my ducks), but thought my extra silkie roos were adorable. So she took them home, and will in the future find them some hens of their own. And someone is coming tomorrow to buy the last of my ducks that I have for sale. Then I will be down to a drake with four hens. And with the roos leaving yesterday, I am down to 10 chicken hens and two roos. These are numbers my husband appreciates. We have enough to watch poultry tv, but not so many as the yard is over run with ducks, causing the chickens to hide.

We finally got some of the rain yesterday, not much, but enough to make the grass happy.

Everyone have a great day!

Well, I'm back. I used to post here a couple of years ago, but moved away to Brazil. I'm back in NC now. Things didn't work out there, unfortunately.

I've moved back in my old house and have started with my first few hens. I lost two roosters to a raccoon, but trapped and relocated the raccoon. I'm looking for a new rooster and more hens now. I'm in Zebulon, just East of Raleigh.

Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!
Welcome back, sorry it didn't work out for you. Are you still into polish?? If so I got a few roosters needing to move on.

You know, I only ever had the one Polish hen and she was so flighty and spooky that I traded her. I tend to keep bigger productive hens, but I like diversity in my flock!

My other chickens just picked on that one Polish so bad that I never got another out of worry for the same thing.

How have you been?

Any chicks, pullets, or hens. I only have 3 hens right now and I have space to keep chicks separate. I've been thinking about putting a batch in the incubator.

For roosters, any mid-larger breed works. Ideally not too grumpy-I have a 7 year old who plays outside a lot. I have 1 acre fenced and the birds stay out most everyday and go in the coop at night. I used to have the best buff orpington, but we passed him to a neighbor when we moved.

The eggs are nice, but mostly I just like to watch the chickens peck around the yard. Between them, my garden, and wine I've managed to avoid therapy. ;)

Ally, I have a splash laced red wyandotte rooster that I would love to find a good home for. He's more orange than red and not quite what I'm looking for in a breeder. He is very nice though and gets along with everyone else so I have kept him around much longer than I normally would have. He's 6 months old. I hatched him in early march from eggs that I purchased. I can take a few photos of him if you have any interest. I also have several 8 week old males too- easter eggers, olive eggers, and a couple more BLRW.

Edited to add: I'm not really close to you, but my husband has to go to the Raleigh area for work pretty regularly.
