If I had a canoe, I'm pretty sure the husband would have found a way to put a hole in it like he did the hose that I use to pump out Lake Ramirez! After being totally soaked to the bone doing chores, I went to hook up the pump only to find out that he not only hit the hose with the mower once, but twice, and to top it off, he ran off with the extra hoses I had. Needless to say, I'll be taking a hose to be patched and the hubby starts swimming to his truck/trailer or he comes up with my other hoses. Hopefully tomorrow is a drier day. :/

Good morning folks

It is oddly quiet this morning......all I hear are a few crickets and tree frogs.
The roosters are being quiet for the moment and there is no rain tapping
out a light beat on the roof. The roosters are taking a brief nap before the
morning chorus starts up again. Nature always sings an interesting song
in the early morning hours.

Thank you and Have a Blessed Day. I so love the crack of dawn, the music coming from my front yard is the best. I use to sit on front porch with cup of coffee waiting for the morning to start, not no more, lol, internet takes that time. I make myself get online for a few hours each morning while family is sleeping, so I now leave front door open, not the same, but do get to hear some of my birds and roosters start waking everyone,( I have to say, the Carolina wren, she is my very favorite singer out there, she has even taken up nesting in a homemade fruit picker my husband made me(which is right at my front door, on the right side), she hatched 5 babies this past spring in that cup, and now her few babies are joining in the singing, its awesome). I read the line under your post and have a question, does your turkeys live with the chickens? I have read that these 2 do not need to be close, due to some diseases, so I was wanting to learn from someone who have both. I hope its ok to ask that here, I am new and still not sure of myself posting. Thank you too for the post, I could almost close my eyes and see/hear the things you described.

I also have chickens and turkeys. Mine are together and I know of others who have theirs together. The main disease you are talking about is blackhead disease. Some areas have it were others don't. If I remember right I have read were it's not prevalent in NC. You could always have a soil test done for it or talk to your AG person to find out if it's in your area.
