SOMEBODY HELP ME OUT HERE!! I know this is a chicken website...but we all are animal lovers and have more animals than just chickens. My beloved lab mix Gator was bitten in a fight with my parents dog who is bigger than he is. :( my poor baby has tear 2 holes in the back of his neck and it's really swollen. I put some peroxide on it and I'm still paying vet bills from when my puppy got parvo and at this point really isn't an option. What can I do to keep it from gettin infected? What can I buy over the counter to help him? I'm worried about my baby. :( I had to put him in his pen tonight. Usually he jut sleeps on my back porch but I don't want him to get infected.

HONEY
HONEY
HONEY
It is the best healing substance I have found and works even better when combined with crushed comfrey leaves but I know not many people have comfrey plants in their yards.
Honey has worked wonders for my chickens with puncture wounds from dog attacks. No infection, heals very fast. With chickens I do not even cover the wound, just apply honey on the freshly cleaned wound and isolate the bird for a couple of days.

Good luck with your dog! Hope he recovers fast!!

I am not sure how deep the holes are I just know when he moves around it starts dripping blood. I'm at the point where all I want to do is cry for my baby. :( I put neosporin on it and inside it and criss crossed an old t short around his chest and back to try to stop it from bleeding. It's not pouring or anything just dripping. I am so mad at my dads dog! I don't even want to look at him. If he won't my dads dog I would probably go out and shoot him. My poor baby just looks at me like mama help. And I just don't know what to do and there ain't nothing around here open this late on Sunday.

Good morning folks

It's starting out as a rain today so just maybe it won't get
so hot......but if we do get a lot of sun this afternoon we will
be very humid. It will be a steam bath. The grandbabies are
busy with school and of course have brought home an
illness already and their poor mom, DD #2 is sick. I sure hope
the kids on the bus don't share with me if they have it too.

He all . What an excellent way to start the day. I'm off work today and it's all rainy! I love it. Nothing like a lazy rainy day! I guess I'll be taking a trip to either pet art or tractor supply. Just went out and checked on him. He seems to be doing okay but all depressed. I'm still so mad at that durn dog!!! The part that make the so mad is that my dads dog is my dogs dad. I plan on trying a lot of different things today. I guess I'll go buy some whole milk and some honey too. I hope all y'all have a good day. I'll post some pics after a while of his boo-boos. After I clean em up so u am really see all it's about! :)

Good Morning! Lovely doing chores in the rain this morning. I love rain...except in winter. Hubby gets mad at me for not wearing a rain coat or taking an umbrella. I don't have enough hands to hold an umbrella, and I'll just sweat in a rain coat. I'd rather be wet by nice, clean rain! Then a shower and off to work! I got here a bit early today, and have all my prep done for lab today. Short day for me, as I can leave at 1:00. Yay! Good plan for Mondays!

Enjoy the warm dripping rain! Go puddle-jumping! Barefoot!

I love playing in the rain too and puddles are not to be avoided. If I
can get away with it I will wear shoes that I can take off so I can walk
through the puddles. Umbrellas are lightening rods and I'd rather not
use one. I admit that if there is lightening I do stay out of the puddles.
Let's kick off the shoes and have fun

I hope its not that new virus that kids are getting. It starts like a cold but can quickly turn trouble with their breathing. Just got back from a week of vacation. Can I say WHEW! I am more tiired now than before. It was fun seeing every one for a few days. A week is too long and much to hot on the coast.

No SHOES but watch out for the turtles that may be hidden in those puddles. LOL We use to tie pieces of bread to a string and check the puddles first. LOL loads of fun.

I have a fresh crop of Cream Legbar chicks for homes. Hatched June 23, July 18 and Sept. 8
I am in the Winston Salem area. Pairs are 30 and pullet are 25. I also have started pairs for 45. PM me if you are interested. Thanks
