Today was warmer than forecasted! Not a day for dark jeans!
But I managed to put some purple kale, red mustard, two different varieties of cabbage as well as some snapdragons and pansies. I got a bunch of seeds in the mail to plant tomorrow and working on some spring bulb landscaping (saffron crocus, tulip, galanthus, grape hyacinth and fritillaria) tomorrow as well.
Enjoy this beautiful weather! I may be speaking too soon but I think summer has had it's last hurrah and we'll be dealing with temps in the 70s-80s for the remainder of autumn.

In fowl related news, I've got quail pipping and probably hatching tonight or tomorrow! First time with quail and 10 out of 27 are under a broody silkie so fingers crossed all of them hatch and the remaining 17 can be grafted to my silkie

With so many from NC, I'm in MD, I have been wanting to move near Blue Ridge Mtns. for awhile now. Any suggestions for a 49 yr old with 2 teenage sons. Someplace very safe, I'm like a momma hen with my boys, so much crime moving to what used to be a sleepy farm town here.

No place like the peidmont area. Do a google search on Davie county nc and you'll see why I moved here 20 years ago. Good luck on your search

Yes I'm close to the moutains. I'm an hour from Boone. 45 min from blue ridge parkway. You'll have to check for priceing. I have 2500 sq ft home with 2 acre paid $145.000 6 years ago

franklin, NC here. We are not as touristy as the Boone area. The winters are a little milder and the summer temps. are about the same. The prices here are a little less then Boone. We have a community college system, wonderful library and really nice area. We are down further toward North Georgia. About 2000ft elevation.

Have several friends from West Jefferson......both are in love with that area. Had a daughter who went to Boone to college. She absolutely loved being there! All kinds of things to do especially for the young people....white water rafting,,,off road biking, mountain hiking as well as a great college. North Wilksboro is a little "down the mtn" from Boone but well withing striking distance! I liked it because it was also closer to places like Winston-Salem where shopping was my dd's great past time with friends and a first class major medical center. And I went to Franklin, NC several summers for several weeks in work related seminars....I loved it !!!I would move to anyone of these places if my dh would move! Can't beat the Blue Ridge!!
