Good morning folks

The rain has quit long enough for the boys to start their morning
chorus. I hope the weather doesn't get too rough for anyone today.
Rain is a good thing but only if has a chance to soak in and not
just run off. I am so tempted to play in the puddles......wonder if I
can get away with it today.

We had the rain, wind etc. yesterday. I am hoping for some better weather today. I need to clean off the poop tray yuck. I sort of don't like that. My hens are finally getting some feathers back after a hard molt. They still look ragged. The rain brought down most of the poplar leaves so my yard is a slippery mess. Today will be rake the leaves from walking areas day. I want to get outside after all this rain and maybe transplant a peony. The ground has been so hard up here in this red clay that the ammended soil was even hard. It had been terribly dry. Now with 3+ inches it maybe workable again soon. I have raised beds of greens going, by keeping them watered until now. The chickens have really enjoyed them. I cut and carry them almost everyday. Of course I have not had anymore eggs than I could use due to the hard molt going on, but I want them healthy going into winter. My dominigue is still laying. Its her first yr. other than that I think they have all gone on molting strike.

. I would like a few more eggs. Yesterday I set up a light to come on at 5in the morning to give them enough light to restart to lay soon. I miss my abundance of fresh eggs. Hope everyone gets trough this rough patch of weather with no damage.

7 of my 9 girls are in midst of a hard molt too! My new bantam, Chicken Little, is perfectly feathered and oblivious to her big sisters plights. She is a laying machine with her tiny mini eggs! And one of my new barred rocks is laying a few times a week, but the rest...the SLW are finishing and look respectable again, the ameracaunas look plucked, and the barred rocks are just a bit ragged in various stages! I keep forgetting to take pics of them. Hope everyone has weathered the storms, I worked night shift and sort of slept through today's batch of weather.

ok.....ANYONE WANT FREE ROOSTERS OR SOMETHING?! I was asking $10 for each (I have three) but I NEED THEM GONE BY SATURDAY! OMG I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO I have a craigslist ad, byc ad, facebook ad, tractor supply ads, EVERYTHING I just need these guys to have a home ASAP!

they are Japanese bantam cross with silkie. id prefer they wouldn't be sold to be eaten, but whatever has to go may go.....

Good morning folks and welcome to new folks

I love wildlife and nature has it's ways. Yesterday morning I went
into the laundry room at the back of the house to get some clothes
for work and heard a skittering sound. I thought it odd for squirrels
to be running about on the roof so early in the dark but DH has been
trying to keep them moving back to the woods. The longer I was in
there the more I heard and it sounded like it was under the washing
machine.......and it was. I seen what looked like a tail going back to
under the house by way of the water pipes that go under the house.
I told DH and he set up a live trap and we now have a small opossum
to relocate to the woods some miles away........cute lil' bugger.

They are cute in their own way and pretty neat critters. Thanks for relocating it instead of killing it.
