North Carolina

I'm president of a nonprofit that provides a night out for families with special needs kids and adults. So I'm home with my feathered babies all the time.
Nursebecky you might can try craigslist for older chicks. If you are on Facebook, there's a group for NC and sc that's selling or looking for chicks you can try that.

I have chatted via email with a hatchery in Fayetteville about growing some chicks out, but...my bantam has gone completely crazy broody! So, not sure what to do. Could I move her to new location at the coast and buy fertilized eggs? Have never hatched babies and not sure how to go about that process. Help?!

I don't know if you have a Southern States nearby, but if you don't mind paying a little more, they have decent squares..I buy the timothy/grass bales and they run 7$ a bale (they're pretty heavy ).. one bale lasts me about a day n half with 2 horses..Standlee forage also has a variety of hay pellets (grass, timothy, alfalfa and some that are a combo), and they work great to stretch bales or as a holdover until you can find flakes.. (just make sure to soak the pellets and then soak again for good measure).
I'm sure prices are different down there than they are here but had issues mid winter with our hay guy going MIA so found out the hard (and expensive ) way.. TSC carries the Standlee products..they also sell an actual bale but it's tiny and grossly over priced (around 12$ for a bale that's about 1 ft wide x 2 feet long) so pointless unless you're feeding one rabbit..lol
to Coop scoop: @Coop Scoop Boogiedo you still need hay? I am pretty sure my father in law still has bales up in the barn, and I can deliver on my way back to the coast. Fayetteville is more or less on the way.

I finally managed to get individual pictures of the breeds that came in my assortment. Any help?

I'm pretty sure the first is a buff orp and the last is a BR or Dom. It has very thick legs compared to the others.

The 2nd and 4th look like the same breed...I have no clue what breed tho..the last one looks like my black banties when they were babies but they didn't have thick legs (they turned out solid black)..I know not a bit of this helps you at all..

With a single comb the last chick would be a barred rock as dom's have a rose comb (would look like a flat space at this age). Do you know what breeds these could possibly be?

I have no idea what they are but that 4th chick is ridiculously adorable and makes me miss mine being little bitties!
