I am trying my hardest to get hubby to settle on a design!!
He drew one up and then on the way to church last night he was telling me some of his other ideas...then he asked, how much ventilation does a coop really need? Seriously?? I told him, from my wonderful friends here at BYC the answer has always been...you can never have too much!!
Apparently he was thinking of putting in two sets of double doors with a hardware cloth screen door to be left open during the day - to "air out" the coop, but then with them all safe and tucked inside for the night, there'd be no ventilation aside from the spots up by the roof. I told him that would NOT do!! I'm beginning to think he invited company over this weekend to stall...here I thought it might be so he could possibly encourage a few friends to help with the building process (you know to get it done faster)...now I am having second thoughts!!
BUILDERS!! I will pray that before your eggs hatch...we'll have a coop finished!!
at the rate he's going, the chicks we do have lined up will be fully grown practically!! BOO!! Although, I must admit if you do get a golden-laced cochin...I'm going to be first in line with my Oliver face saying, "Please ma'am...wouldn't you like to find a home fer this 'un"
!! Be sure to take plenty of pictures...
I will be waiting with baited breath to see how they turn out!!
Oh, and Bhep - regarding meat. I'm not a vegetarian per say...I just don't eat meat very often. When I do, it's never beef/pork due to a long medical mystery mix-up that resulted in me being unable to digest most animal products (yay for tasting things twice??
)
congratulations on the pips!!
busy day in store...must make BBQ sauce, and start working on making this place spotless...
Edited to say: Somehow I missed an entire page!! Gavin...my oh my that is a GORGEOUS silkie!!
I can't wait to see more photos of that one!!
