Hey guys!

Haven't been on in a while. Just wanted to drop in and say I'm glad it's cooling off finally. I love Fall. Hope eveyone has happy and healthy birds. My 6 girls are doing great. The Australorp pullets I got in the Spring are almost old enough that I should be seeing some eggs soon. Can't wait! Happy Labor Day and have a great rest of the week!

I wonder if you got your Australorps from same place as I did.

I got them from a breeder in mocksville back in May. They are almost 6 months old now. I love them

I have had luck hatching in the coop but I think it greatly depends on the mother, your flock's personalities, how many hatch etc in general. I have had broodies coming out my ears this year and no way to separate the later broodies so it was like musical chairs with the chicken tractor Finally got to the point I had so many I just didn't care and had to leave one in the coop until some space was freed up outside of it for her. My rooster is very protective and docile, though...and the other hens have plenty of room to do their own thing so that helped.

Well, got the storage building set up for the rest of the move to the farm. Put up two small pens for transfer of the chickens from the old house. Put most of my roosters in a holding pen awaiting freezer and crock pot camp, their days are numbered. Not sure if I am going to do five or six at first or go ahead and do all 13/14 of them, some are pretty birds but it's either lay and eat or crow and be eaten....their choice.

Then I will be moving greenhouses... Oh the fun!!!
