I am going to be line breeding with my two Marans and am going to need to be able to keep tract of who's who. So I was thinking of doing leg bands but thats about where it ends. What kind of leg bands? How do you use them to make sure I know who is who's offsprings and so forth. I also was wanting to know at what point should I get NPIP tested.

Thanks!

Way to go, ML

Welcome to the new folks.

Combined our little flock last weekend and put them out in the coop. Long story short.

The coop was ready enough so we decided why not. Our crowd is only two weeks apart. They are doing fine.

This afternoon after work, I opened the pop door (without ramp) and stood back and watched. It was funny, there is a three foot drop to the run.

We promised ourselves that we were not going to name these chicks. After this evening, I have named the rooster candidates. Commander Brahma, the Brahma XO (second in command) and Commander Orp. Commander Orp's XO
chickened out and would not make the jump, although he did kick out a pullet to keep the four week brahma cockerel company since the six weekers sort of shun him. Hey, we are here near Ft Bragg, home of the airborne.

To my chicken mentor who rarely posts here (Scottcaddy) but might look in this weekend, the little brahma cockerels butt is just fine. My overreaction but all that I could get my hands on got checked for mites or whatever. All look very healthy.

Hi! I'm new to this thread! I live in Reidsville (13yrs) which is not far from Burlinton and Greensboro. I also lived in Mebane for about 9yrs. Before that I lived in Fayetteville for about 4 yrs. From Kindergarden-4th grade in the 70's. I would love to start incubating but I know once I start I will be hooked!

Miss Lydie, I looked at you BYC page, I love your coop! I had a question tho Daisey Mae looks more like a Dark Brahma than a Light, I wasn't sure if it was just the lighting of the pic. She is a beautiful girl, all your birdies are. All tho I must say Eddie is adorable

Dave

wish i could but with 2 roos already i know it won't work, when i got my one light I got a roo with her and there was fighting going on every day, then the Brahma roo started flogging us and he scalped my bantam frizzle, so we ended up putting him in the freezer.

2 roos is all we can handle right now, but one day hope to get another Brahma roo, they are a site to behold.
