I see Ruthann has warned you new folks of the disease.

For those not sure what it is, well it is worse than Avian Bird Flu. It does not affect poultry just their owners. It starts with a simple desire to have your own eggs or eating birds. It progresses quickly to visiting this web site numerous times during the day. Thos non-affected will notice and hear you saying words like coop, brooder box, predator proof, hardware cloth. This is soon followed by the use of words like standard and bantam, followed by names such as Barred Rock, Buff Orpington, Serama, Game Cock and the most addictive of all Silkie. There is also the urge to build wooden structures when previously there had been no desire to go out in to the yard and do anything except light the grill and cook-out. The worse it gets is towards Christmas when the words incubator, heat lamp, brooder box and hatching eggs will be mentioned, and the desire to hatch chicks.

The remedy for this situation is to give in and buy whatever the person needs. This will be followed by requests for books, and would you believe a desire to travel 2,3 or 4 hours plus to go to Poultry Shows. Here at these shows you will see your afflicted person smile lots, coo at birds (feathered variety) and meet up with total strangers from off of this web site.

For those not afflicted I am so pleased to say there is NO CURE for those who catch the disease. So just knuckle down, catch it by being around others infected, make good friends and have fun!
