North Carolina

Would any of you guys yourself or know of anyone interested in bobwhite quail? They were Northern bobs. I have 19 or 20 babies that are 2 days old and I had the guy I hatched them for back out. I am not prepared to raise bobwhites (I just started raising coturnix ) but they are so ADORABLE <3 lol

Eve'n all! Took some pictures today for those inquiring into my English juvi's that are still available so I thought I would share the pics.

The only pullet left available with one of the several cockerels

Goodmorning everyone

One of my Cochins (1st time mama) has hatched 5 chicks, 1 to go. She is a beauty from Greeneacres that I got last Nov. I have to get some pictures.

See...... I will be able to shut down the big bator, I'll have broodies everywhere !

Getting the barn ready for a few more girls...we're in the process of making plans to add 4 more girls to our flock. Tried to convince DH to build a whole new coop, this one for ducks and peacocks and such, but no luck...for now!!

I think he's really leaning toward fencing in our whole property so we can free range the chickens (which is fine with me...that means I can have even MORE!!) We had our neighbor stop by last night to check on our chickens since he watched them. Gavin - he complimented us on beautiful chickens so I am passing that compliment along to you!! I will admit to being HORRIFIED when DH took him over to see our garden!! The man is a farmer and he takes him over to see my WEED patch.
hide.gif
DH did ask him for gardening tips (seeing how his personal garden is "only" 300'x300')...he told us to use weed killer and I said can't...DD eats the dirt and grass!! So he suggested a few ways for us to work on ridding the area of the grass (hint: when mowing do NOT mow the cut grass into your garden...
lau.gif
) sadly though...I think we are going to have to scrap this garden and try again.
hit.gif
He did offer us some Blueberry Bushes and Grape Vines though...so I thought that was sweet.
love.gif
He is such a nice neighbor!! Although...he did bring his MUTT with him....
tongue.gif
But to his credit, he was holding it and didn't let it down, so that made me happy. DD is still afraid of it though! GOOD GIRL!!

I do hope those of you who need rain get it. We can always use it...okay, our WELL can always use it!! hehe

I don't know what happened but somehow I ended up with a cold. It's summer...HOW can I have a cold? Bah!! I'm off to do laundry and stuff nappies. Sorry about my scatterbrained post!!
Have a great day everyone!!

I am new to BYC and have recently started raising chickens on a much larger scale than just my menagerie of laying hens. This site is awesome!!!!! So nice to be able to learn from others' experiences! Thanks ya'll!~

this hen and me have fought since March - shes had 2 failed sets of eggs (one full term and the other 3 eggs I gave her were a few days to hatch, and some reason they didn't hatch) and i've tried breaking her of broodiness..not happening. maybe now with 2 or 3 kids she'll be happy. *sigh* I thought the silkies would be determined

One of the silkies should start hatching today or tomorrow.

lol like I need more babies - I just sold all my extras only to get more
