Just set my last tray in the big sportsman this evening.
I only have one other tray in it due mid next week with some serama's and bantam lav ameraucana's. This tray has some lav bantam orps and my first gold cuckoo marans eggs, hoping for some awesome offspring!
Once these are ready for lockdown the cabinet bator will be turned off and just using the little Brinsea for the rest of the summer.
Just think, it's almost time to start gearing for fall show season!
Em - I am so sorry to hear you will be "stuck" in a hotel for possibly a whole week. Were the storms that bad out your way? We didn't get any, not one DROP of rain. Still, I am sorry about the added hassle.
ML - We all miss you when you're not around. Hope you had a wonderful time with the grandkids!! If you need to take a week or two to recover we'll understand.
SCM - I am sorry, but I cannot go with the Scarlet idea (unless it's a bratty chicken...
my sister is named Scarlet). I LOVE the Phineas & Ferb idea!! What about Candice for one of them, especially if you go with Izzie...
you could go with Ladonna for P & F's mom!!
okay, sorry....my DH LOVES P&F....I'm partial to Perry. Guess once I get a duck I'll have to name it Perry (and hope its a boy...haha)
to your little guy!! I hope he feels better soon!!
So what's in our drinking water that caused most of us to have an abundance of boys this time around?? Was it the weird Spring or what?? Sure wish I could take him Coyote, but sadly I have more boys than I know what to do with too. I'm thankful so far they have not started fighting. I am thinking Cotton-Tail is gearing up to fight for the dominant male position....that makes me nervous. I can see the tension between the two. The funny thing is...my LO is the BIGGEST boy out of the bunch and he's just shy, laid back...you name it. Jeremy & Cotton are about the same size and I do NOT want to see who would win if they ever did fight. I'm hoping that if I add a few more girls it will help cover that. If not...
Cotton will have to go (only because Jeremy is still my favorite). However, I refuse to think about that. Does anyone have any suggestions to prevent a fight before it comes to that? Is it normal? They are brothers, so I was hoping it wouldn't get to that point, but I'd rather have a plan of attack before anything happens. I took some pictures but forgot to send them from my phone, so I will try and do that later on today. I haven't done much in the past few days as I have been under the weather with a silly summer cold.
it's summer....colds are for winter!! Have a great day everyone!!
Em, hope you get power soon! I saw another NCer post about a tree coming down right on their coop as they had just been trying to secure their girls for the storm. Looked terrible! We didn't even get a drop here! I hope everyone is safe and sound and that power returns QUICKLY!!! Glad yours is back, allabout!
ML - good to see ya! Glad Hope is doing well and can't wait to see a pic!!!
Greenacre - good luck with the move and hope you get some rest!!! BTW, I adore my little Cochin - she is getting so big and is just the softest thing in the world!!! I've got to get updated pics soon! I think I may need a few more Cochins!!!
My Marans are finally getting their copper!!!!!!!!!
I had decided they weren't going to get it and were just Black and Blue, no copper. But finally some little speckles are coming through. Who knew it would take nearly 10 weeks!!! Well, probably you guys, but not me!!!!! And my little Ameraucanas pullet has decided to become my new bestie which is fun! And boy can those Ameraucanas fly!! You better watch your head when they're flying around!
My little guy is STILL sleeping
so hopefully he'll wake up feeling much better!
Hopefully we'll get to play outside and get some pics of the chickies! Have a good day!!
Heres a picture of Hope, my camera skills leave alot to be desired, but she is just the sweetest thing. 2 Weeks today!!!
sorry EM about the storm doing so much damage, we had some big ones come through here too. Got 11/2 in. of rain from it. but not the wind thank goodness.Hope you can get back home soon.
These are for HT, I love these girls, they are as large as my Brahmas, and only 5 months old. I think they may start laying soon, but don't think either of my roos can get them fertile [too small] maybe one of these days I can get a roo from you.
I have no idea what is going on. I have rehomed 12 roos this year. I have a pair of Sebright roos who are getting along fine with all the girls and each other. Another Cochin who is much calmer and gets along with the others. AND possibly 2-3 more EE roos. I just got rid of 6 of them!! The one in the picture I posted last night, chased one of my much larger EE hens over a fence and into my neighbors yard. She was quickly mashed by the dinner plate size paws of their bloodhound puppy. Not his fault, he's a puppy, but dang she was a pretty bird.
