Okay...so my Cuckoo Maran is Dutchess, the Black Copper is Susan, the White is Tabitha and the Speckled one is Lucie (my favorite...she talks to me all the time!!

I have stalked this site long enough...I must get back to sewing with DD is asleep!! I'm thinking we're having a growth spurt as she's sleeping an awful lot...

I took 4 Guineas to the auction. 2 Pearl & 2 Lavender. As I suspected, the Lavender did VERY well for Guinea keets. I will grow them out a bit, the older ones go for bigger money.

I did sell the ducklings, but would be more then happy to hatch more.

Glad my internet is fix.... I already bid and won an auction for bantam Polish.

I gotta stop....

OOHH...we did make a few things with the duck eggs and I can say you can't tell the difference (DH was worried about being able to tell the difference)!!

Now I just have to find out the correct ratio of duck eggs to chicken eggs in baking and we'll be all set. I've been working on making a tasty and LIGHT vegan cake for DD's birthday coming up and so far I have failed miserably (one wasn't bad but it was like lead - super heavy and had TONS of sugar in it...eck). Still, I'm on the hunt to find something light and "allergy free" and once that's accomplished I'm going to be making a big bunch of cupcakes for the neighbors, so I can let you know how it all works out!!

Well...Ms. Black Widow is back. I found her yesterday hanging by the window on the woods side of the barn. DH thought about moving her to a new location deep in the woods, but with the approaching storm last night he decided to do nothing!!

Okay, well he did TRY to kill her but she is very smart and clever and hides when she sees him coming (me not so much...she can SMELL my fear!!) so for now I think there's nothing we can do. I cannot go behind the barn because of the poison ivy (still need to get me a goat...maybe a milking goat...hmmm...I wonder if I would be allergic to natural/organic milk vs the nasty hormone laden stuff in the store...hmmmm) and well...now the added excuse is because spiders paralyze me with fear...I know, I'm a wuss!!

I am happy for the rain!! We were having fears that our well would run dry if it kept up!!

The girls have officially assimilated themselves in with the bigger kids. I went out yesterday to find them all on the roost (panting...stupid humidity & heat) checking out the windows and such. Tabitha (the white) is the one most picked on still, but I am thinking they are going to get along fabulous!! We took the barrier partially down - DH suggested leaving it up just in case there is a bad bully that needs to be separated for a "time out". I am excited!! The Marans "talk" ALL the time and it's such a different sound from the orps...I had NO idea they would be so different. Gosh, I am amazed at how much we still have to learn!! I did manage to get the two birthday dresses cut out and only then did I realize I had NO ribbon (or zippers) for the silly thing, so I will be putting that project on hold until I head to the store this week!!

I hate when that happens!! Have a great day everyone!!

Edited to say: BHep....you've corrupted me!! I went to the duck forum page and started looking at ducks...I think I'm going to have to have you try to hatch out some Butterscotch Call Ducks (I know they're hard to hatch...just means I am feeding your addiction!!

Oh, I don't know if I can really be rid of her. She's just been making me loopy lately since she's so needy for attention. Always trying to get her to protect me from my drake who's too rough with her. She's a good layer, but she's lived a life of free ranging and gets to come and go as she pleases. I don't think she's do too well with any type of confinement. However, if she doesn't stop trying to get in the house and chasing the cat, I may change my mind!!!

I'll get photos of her anyways.
