I hear you on the broody, One of the black hen (Ring Ding) I got form you is FOREVER broody. She is a great setter, horrible mother. So she sits and I take the chicks, after too many hard lessons. Then we break her and a week or two later, she's back on someones nest

So sorry to hear about your MIL and you! I'm glad that it wasn't as bad as they thought it was but I bet the shock was horrible! And as for you, all I can say is OUCH!! You are one heck of a woman if you could take that and say it isn't too bad! So I follow that with a WOW!! And a very gentle

Then you are a better woman than me because the first time I saw one I called my MIL and told her I was moving back to MI. It took a week before I could walk around in the yard without my toes unconsciously curling under! Since then I've seen close to 10 rattlesnakes and who knows how many black snakes and brown water snakes. Still here, though the one in the mailbox almost gave me a heart attack and did me in!!

I'm going to have to get the map out to find all these places ya'll live.

course ya'll probably haven't heard of Burnsville either. Gosh Greenie sorry about that scare with ML that is terrible to tell a family when they don't even know for sure. Hope she's feeling better by now. and you getting kicked by a horse wow I bet that will leave a mark. Hope your feeling better too. Hope your seeing little chicks by now Jl.

I have four in the brooder right now. Momma killed one this morning so I grabbed the remaining hatched and ran them into the house. She is back sitting on the unhatched eggs right now and as I converted my incubator into a temporary brooder, I think I'm going to have to leave them for now. Any suggestions? Really freaked out after watching that viscous attack!

JL.... brood them yourself. That's what I would do. Sorry about the chick, that is always horrible

and yes you can put them with the chick you hatched, they are close enough in age.

I would for sure put them with Hope, so sorry about the chick. Might have been something wrong with it, and mamas way of dealing with it. It happened here.

Your other little chick will probably love the company! Put them in with her, they should be fine. I had one hatch a couple of weeks ago by itself, then last week had 4 hatch so I just put them all together in one brooder, they are now one happy little family.
