X2!!!

I've seen it either on the set up thread I started or on one other I found in the Coop Builing and Design section. I liked it then and I may even like it more a second time! I can't even imagine how much time and effort went into that set up!

Thank you both,....well my husband hasn't divorced me yet

. This is how it all started.
I extended the run three times and doubled the coop since then.

Wow that is so awesome. Hats off to you guys!

Wow...busy weekend for us here!! I just had to share some news....I think one of my Marans might be an EE cross because DH was chanting as he brought the eggs into the house, "I do not like Green Eggs & Ham, I do not like them Sam I Am"....apparently we have had 2 "green" eggs. Honestly they look like a cartoon rendition of a soured egg...they are THAT color green!!

I sure wish I knew who was laying and who wasn't! I have 2 laying IN the nexting boxes and 2 laying in a pile in the corner opposite the nesting boxes!! :thud I am thinking of putting some straw or extra bedding in the boxes to see if that will entice them as the corner is where all of the shaving get pushed when they dig.

Suggestions: As expected the run is nothing but dirt now and I was wondering those of you who have runs, what do you do to keep your guys/girls interested? Should I put some straw/hay down or just leave it? We're planning on fencing in a larger portion of our property (a few acres) for the sheep and I plan to let the chickens "free range" in that fenced area during the day - that is once we figure out who's laying when....I don't want to be scouring the woods for hidden eggs - or worse inticing some snakes or coons to start thinking this is a free feeding ground!! Any techniques that have worked well for you all??

BHep - Let me know if you plan on getting rid of a few more...I might just have to make another trip out there with DD (although she is still saying "NO" to horses...

) to you know...help you think some out!!

Then again...I may need another coop, right??

Well...I may be sparse the next few days...the wedding cake is due Saturday, so I will be busy working all this coming week on the finishing touches and getting it completely ready for Saturday...just to watch 400 people devour it.

LOL. All that work for a few seconds of enjoyment. LOL Have a great week everyone.

Jloeffler - I have a black orpington roo (Lav split) that DH wouldn't mind parting with especially since he has YET to find his way into our freezer (yup...we're VERY timid about the whole process...LOL) In case you are still looking for an Orpington Roo. We're near Clayton/Raleigh area....not sure if that's any closer to you than Gavin...although we did get them from him, so it would almost be like getting it from him!! LOL.

Michaelinnc- GOOD LUCK

Good luck! My homemade has worked pretty well, as soon as I got the thermometer figured out and despite a hurricane!! And it was fun. Enjoy!

Homesteader thanks for the offer. You are a bit closer than Gavin, but I'm looking for a buff

otherwise I would jump all over that! We are going to eat our first freezer camp attendee tomorrow, and not sure yet how that'll work out! So sympathies with having a hard time with it. Ours was evil. Now my JB is squaring off with DH, same way the other started out. Maybe it's DH...

NH.... GREEN EGG ???? Those chickens hatched from "pure golden cuckoo Marans project " eggs.. Hentymes, you hearing this.
barnie.gif
(Ht got egg from same seller) Now I am SUPER curious to know who laid that egg. OBVIOUSLY there is something going on.

And I have 2 big beautiful Austrolorp hens for you if you want. And you & DD can come by anytime....and I won't even stow away a chicken in the diaper bag.

michaelinnc...good luck with your incubator.
lol.png
What are you looking to hatch?

welcome-byc.gif
to all new flockers

wow bhep great work on the hatching
thumbsup.gif
hope the rest come out for you. That hen you want to lay eggs must be molting, no eggs from her since
barnie.gif
. But if you wait til next year I'll have her and hopefully a few more. Or you can just wait til after the molt and do a little hatching.
