Muscovies don't quack Beth, not like other ducks, the drakes when around 3 months will start making a rasping sounds and the females trill, high pitched boys low and raspy. post some pics of their facial carnicles that will help alot. How old are they now?

I got them on 8/21. They were 1/2 feathered. No idea the age. Under 3 months for sure, so there is still hope. Off to take pics.

Beth your yard looks like mine! I went put yesterday to collect eggs and almost landed on my butt in the middle of a mud puddle! Hens seem to like mucking about in it just fine, guess they thought I was trying to join them as they all came running over talking at me! Silly girls!

Quail eggs arrived from Reesepoultry yesterday and we put them in the bator in the Ag teachers classroom. Kids are loving it! I had several stop by my room today just to talk about them and the Ag teacher says every 5 min. Someone has to go check on the eggs and report back to the class on the temp and condition. Funny! Anyone have experience with quail eggs? I've only done chicken and only twice at that! I'd love any and all advice from pros!

I have hatched bunches.

They hatch fast and furious ! anywhere from day 16-18. I locked down day 13 to be sure. They are cute and FAST. Sort of remind me of cockroaches.

They will try to drown themselves in the waterer. I use a water bottle. The kind for hamsters. They have no problem figuring it out. Make sure their food is real fine.

It does not take long for them to start flying 2 weeks maybe, they lift off like helicopters. And they start laying eggs 5-6 weeks.

Have fun
