Good Monday Morning everyone!! Today is a NORMAL day here on the farm....no guests....nothing but same ol' same ol'...my oh my how I have missed this and sadly it means that today will be a cleaning day (as I neglected it this weekend...oops). Today is also the day for dreaming...I don't know about any of you, but my seed catalogues started arriving and I am in FULL planning mode. DH says we're going to take it "easy" this year because the past 2 years have been utter failures. I am NOT giving up hope. We're going to bring in a few loads (might have to borrow a truck for this) of good top soil, mix in some great compost and I'm going to set to work. Of course when summer rolls around I will be GREAT with child, but I hear "squatting" in the fields is quite the exercise in pre-labor practice!!

I am anxious to see how well the ducks keep our garden pest free as the chickens are not given access to the garden (just the scraps)!!
I have officially figured out why I do not like my in-laws...they said chickens were "nasty, smelly creatures" and ducks were worthless. They also said some nasty things about the guineas, but since I agree with them there, I'll let those things slide!! Hehe. I just realized that THAT MUST be the reason they are not my favorite people!! I mean you just can't trust someone who doesn't think chicks are CUTE, right??

Good Morning! Last day of 2012! WooHoo!

I'm going to have to set up my work computer, which I brought home, to do pictures of Levi. My computer is acting up, and I haven't sorted out how to do this with my iPad that hubby gave me for Christmas. We've has two nights in a row with no whining all night, although I could tell by where the toys were that he'd been up playing in the night.

Today, he gets to meet House Chicken! And he's got an 11:00 am vet check.

Hubby did some leaf raking and tossed them into the chicken moat. The teenagers are loving scratching through them all. They'll get them all nicely composted before next year!

Peeping is coming from the incubator this morning! Woohoo! I didn't formally join the NYD hat h, but set up for it for fun. Perfect way to start the new year!

Good morning folks

Being reminded of getting ready for a garden
means getting it ready.........how many of us use
chicken litter from the coops........I know we do
as well as from the horse pens....all aged of course

I had put the ducks.....all of 2 muscovy drakes.....
into the garden area to winter over there.......
we discovered they LOVE grape tomatoes as they
cleaned every last one off the vines. Think we may
need to put them somewhere away from the tomato
plants.......so much I'd like to plant and limited space
.........unless I claim some chicken pens for garden
space..............like that would ever happen

if you do use old chicken pens... get ready for a great season lol, We did it with our first chicken area that we discovered couldnt be used for chickens as it floods and well chickens dont swim

but its good for the graden, as long as we put horse litter in every now and than.

Isn't he though?

Doc says he should keep those blue eyes, too! And he's really a good pup. He is going to be a chewer though, so we're working diligently on teaching him what is appropriate to chew on and what is not.

This is an amazing gift. I'm not sure I deserve this one...but I'll keep him anyway!
