Well...Happy Saturday to everyone. I for one am VERY happy to have the in-laws GONE and we are attempting to get things back to normal and back on schedule!!

I won't tell you all that my in-laws did, let me just say I am SO glad I am pregnant as I can blame it all on pregnancy hormones...I have NEVER before wanted to just haul off and beat someone over the head with any heavy object before. Go pregnancy hormones!!

My DH is amazing, he practically built a greenhouse for me all by himself (my father in law started to help, but the rain caused them to lose a day of work and well...he left with only a roof and a few walls up. It's still unfinished, but that's because DH ran out of supplies (yeah, FIL "figured wrong"...GRR). My duck pond has to wait as DH is looking for ONE specific part and can't seem to find what he's looking for!!

I am hoping we will be able to find it sometime this winter so it can be fixed before spring!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! We had a HUGE Christmas, far too large for our girls - they were opening presents for HOURS...the grandparents on both sides WAY over did the presents!! Next year we're instilling a 3 gift or less rule... they don't NEED all this junk/stuff/materialistic stuff (although I am happy to say 90% of it was educational!!).

For all the new people, WELCOME!!

Glad to have you here!! I am off to get some MUCH needed rest (peace and quiet?!? Haha...no luck, DH is practicing his bagpipes, DD1 is practicing the xylophone and DD2 is practicing her "singing"...LOL). Have a great weekend everyone!!

Quote: I'm not sure about your location, and I don't feel like I should tell you what to do in your area. We are in the central part of NC and don't get very bad winters here. Our coops have large non-closing windows and or vents and plywood floors. Our birds will roost outside most of the time thats it's not raining hard, snow don't seem to bother them.
I hope someone in your area can help you out with this!
Good Luck!

Good Morning, Happy People!

My guests all leave today! Yay! Love them, but it's time to get my house back! I believe I'm not the only one with that thought (am I, NH?).

I checked House Chicken's head closely yesterday, and it's over half closed, with over a centimeter of new skin circle closing it down. She's going to heal well. Today she will be used to introduce chickens to Levi. She's already used to dogs. He just needs to learn that they aren't toys, and all will be well.

We were going to bed Levi down in the mudroom, as we usually do with puppies, but it's too cold in there this time of year. The floor is slab and uninsulated. So we put him in the kitchen. So far he's only missed the puppy pads twice. And he didn't cry once all night. Not once. When I came out, he heard me coming and was sitting up in bed. He jumped up to say hello, stopped to pee, then got taken out to poop, then back in. Had some playtime, then got left to nap. He's beaten the bejeepers out of a couple stuffed animals, and gone back to sleep without a single whimper about being left alone. He is awesome.

You can really see the ages of my Boys, and what they've been exposed to in the past. Murphy is pleased to have a new baby in the house. Jake was not as unhappy as he was when we brought Reilly home. He's not as jumpy when Levi gets underfoot. Reilly is totally unsure about this, but I think it will be better when DS and his hyper dog leave today. Dusty is a good boy, but he's a much more active kind of dog, and he's a bit much for mine to take.

CSB, you know you are welcome any time! I'll show you where the coffee making stuff is. Since I don't drink it, I haven't a clue how to make it! This week?

Have a lovely day, everyone. I'll be back with pictures!

Sounds like he's a keeper

Thank you Scott. They don't seem to mind the cold except that their water is frozen, and they will worry me to death until I fix that! I am in the SW mountains near Cherokee so my weather is a little different. They have a vent up high that I close at night and open during the day, but the one that runs the length of the nest boxes doesn't have a door. I got another egg yesterday, I suppose at 27 weeks these girls ....or at least one, are offically laying
It snowed here all day yesterday and all night last night, just a skiff on the ground. I want to add a Lavender Orp hen in the spring, perhaps I can trade one of my Buffs for one, as I really don't have room for another hen. Will see what happens in the spring, but we were at the state fair and DH saw the Lavender Orps and really liked them.
Sounds as if Levi is settling in well. He sounds like a good dog that has been well socialized.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!
