Good Morning everyone!!
CSB - glad your first day back was a relatively quiet one!!

Here's a prayer for a wonderful semester with amazing students!!
Wild - I am glad to read that you are able to do some protein and I am hoping & praying that things brighten up for you! I am officially in the 2nd trimester now and while I haven't had a bout of all day sickness again, I still get waves of it here and there...not to mention that my sniffer is STILL on overdrive so the slightest scent can have be gagging!!

Just keep your eyes focused on the "prize" at the end. Once you hold him/her for the first time, I promise you, you will forget all of the drama that you had to go through to bring that one here. (While you forget...you never fully FORGET the wonderful things that caused the waves of nausea...I got sick on pickles with my first and have YET to be able to go near them - not even smell them...and I use to be able to eat pickles from the jar like they were candy!! LOL) This is the biggest hurdle (aside from the actual labor/delivery & the adjustment that follows) that you must overcome for now.

I'm here for you and praying for you!!

Not much going on here. Chicks are doing well. DH is going to reconfigure our isolation pen to be a temporary juvi pen. I think this will be good for many reasons, but especially since the guineas are so aggressive towards ALL our young teenagers. Perhaps this will enable the guineas to "get to know" the juvis and they won't attack them when they're integrated!! The only one the guineas DON'T attack...Cadbury!! How I LOVE that duck!! (Thanks Beth!!). His girls are still rather shy, but he's a lover!! (It probably helps that I let him have first dibs on the feed bucket before giving some out to the rest!!
love.gif
I "won" my husband by baking goodies for him and his family...why not "woo" Cadbury?!? Hehe. Busy day - lots of cleaning going on!! I haven't actually touched anything since the guests left and it DESPERATELY needs to be done!! Tomorrow is my first ultrasound and I really HOPE the visit isn't 1.5 hours like they told me to prepare for. Seriously, this isn't my first child...do I REALLY need to go through everything all over again?!? It hasn't been THAT long since the last one (oops). Okay, I am done complaining!! LOL. Have a great day everyone!! My reward will be allowing myself to drool over seed catalogues again and dream!!

It's not your first, but it's this baby's first! They'll want to check it all out. Just relax and go with it!

When I have to wait, I used to find it frustrating. Then I decided to look at waiting...anywhere, docs, bank, grocery store line, train track, traffic light...as a few minutes to myself. It makes waiting much nicer. And then of course, for big waits, like the Doc, I knit. Hmmm...well, I knit for short waits, too, except for traffic lights. But I do knit for trains, because the car is in park!

Hubby did the morning chores, so I didn't go out until just a bit ago.

I didn't lock up last night.

Half the younger birds ...the ones that still like to sleep on the ground...and a couple larger ones are missing. I won't get a proper count until tonight.

My fault. The only thing I can tell myself is that at least these are the hatchery birds and not the good ones. Hubby has now been recruited to help me remember to lock up at dusk.

I'm such an idiot.

Someone just shoot me. The foxes should not eat this well.

maybe they are out finding bugs and will be home tonight

Record egg day, my daily 2 from Elvis and his girls, and 2 from my buffs. One buff has been laying and she lays in the nest box, but today there was an egg in the run near the bottom of the ramp, guess she couldn't make it to the box, lol! I am just excited to have them laying!
Have a super great day all!

As a consolation prize, I had a lovely visit with Beth and her two youngest. She picked up her used eggs, and got walked about to see what's left of the birds and beasts. The little man had a good time with Jake and Murphy, while Reilly made himself a pest pushing people about. Levi was a bit leery of the baby carrier, but came out for a bit to visit. I think Beth would have snuck him home if she could have. (When he's grown, he'll weigh more than her 13 all together!)

Oh, and her visit reminded me...I have a young Californian doe, about 8 weeks old, that needs a new home. I bought her because I loved her look, but I need a New Zealand doe unrelated to my others. That's what I was supposed to have gotten, but I failed when I saw her. So she needs to go. She's got a nice temperament, although I don't really handle my meat rabbits. She'll make a good breeder. If I would allow myself to hang another cage, I'd keep her, but I'm limiting my rabbits to three breeding does and two bucks. I refuse to allow my rabbit population to build up. Again. So if anyone is interested, I paid a whopping $12 for her.

Despite the chicken losses, still a good day. For those, since I can't fix it, all I can do is prevent it happening again. Idiot.

Hi! Just dropping in to ask if anyone knows where I can buy Guinea Fowl close to the Triangle area? (I live North of the Raleigh/Durham area). I'm not ready for them just yet, but am doing my research!

Thanks in advance! :)
