Good Morning, Happy People!

Yesterday was a dreadful work day, so I'm hoping today is better! It'll be long, though. Tuesdays and Thursdays will take some adjusting to. The chair decided I needed a break between classes, which makes my day so spread out it's killing me. I'll have to remind my helpful boss to consult me on what he thinks is best for me! (He's also a friend, and he really is trying to be helpful!)

No news on the chicken front, except I'll have eggs going to lockdown on Monday. These are the ones that the lovely Post Office took ten days to send Priority. There are dark eggs layers and Amers in the batch, which I don't have the equipment to candle, but some of the others are certainly showing development. Unless I can see for sure it's a clear or it's leaking, I'll be sending them all to lockdown, just in case. Under the circumstances, if I get even a 30% hatch, I'll be happy. Of course, I'd be happier with more! I'll reorder eggs from the same source once I know what I've got in this batch. Cross your crossables!

Hollow - I wish you the best of luck!! I am thankful I am NOT in your class, as I would most definitely be the one to let you know just how much I abhor Science. LOL...I was the ONE student who refused to dissect a frog because I thought frogs were cute. I "skipped" school on the cat dissection day and cried when I came back to school and saw the "parts" on display!! My poor Science teacher!! How is Levi doing with your longer schedule?

No news here. Company that was suppose to visit this weekend cancelled due to the stomach/flu bug that is going around, so....DH and I are going to have an opportunity to FINALLY move our chickies out to the juvi pen. Since it's suppose to be beautiful this weekend, I will be working outside on Friday getting the pen ready (filling the gaps in the wood and wrapping chicken (hardware) cloth/wire around the "run") so on Saturday DH can do all the digging for the hardware cloth to create a skirt around the whole pen while the girls and I sit back and watch!!

DD1 and I will move the chickies into their new home (she's been DYING to hold one). I have so much that I NEED to do, and yet warm winter days like these just make me want to go outside and start working in the garden!! Now if only my prissy wasn't so afraid of getting her hands dirty...yes, like mother, like daughter...but she's worse!!

At least I don't have to worry about her bringing something with 8 legs into the house to "show" me....nothing like what Beth was showing everyone on FB (which gave me NIGHTMARES...thanks Beth!!

I bring my farm into my classroom all the time, in pictures and stories, and even by bringing things in. I've brought bottle lambs to class before, and chicks. I've also brought eight-legged things.

Just dead ones. I make sure my students know what a tick looks like and what a brown recluse looks like, as most people think wolf spiders are brown recluse. And I'm amazed at how many have never seen a tick. (No dissections for my non-majors, either!)

Levi is lonely, I'm sure, but he's been self-entertaining from the start, so I like to think it isn't too onerous for him. He's got a room full of toys. He can't hold his bowels that long but he's unhappy about going inside, so as soon as he has control I'll stop having to clean up as soon as I get home. And Reilly is suddenly willing to play with him...outside only. The biggest of the mastiffs trying to play tag with a not-quite-eight-week-old puppy. Hilarious!

Somewhere, they had a teacher who had to teach them science but didn't like it, and they passed that dislike on. So, my personal goal is to make them see the magic! You already see it, you know. Yea. We have to go to Raleigh. And it's gonna cost is about $200 for everything.

I thought I'd put it on here before CL but I have 2 all white EE chicks (one looks roo and one female) That I'm going to have to part with within the next few weeks. Their dad is a big all white EE and mom is a big white EE. They were hatched on thanksgiving day and have been with their adopted mother outside the whole time. If anyone is interested PM me.
