Hi there! I've never been but am thinking about trying to go to WCA tomorrow. I'm wanting to find some pullets/hens to add to my flock: cuckoo Marans, black, blue, lavender, splash orpingtons. Any one here know if there's a chance I'd find some there? I'm in Asheboro so its a bit of a hike for me! Thanks!

Hello all. Do they have any of these WCA's towards hickory or Charlotte? Never been to one and was just wondering what they are like.
Today was not a good day. We have a black silkie cockerel named Zane. We had to do some running today and when we got home went to get the eggs, around 6pm. when I got in the coop I noticed than Zane was sitting near the feeder at a weird angle. I went in and noticed that he somehow got one of his legs caught in it. Well I got him out and tried to set him down. He fell over. So I picked him up and looked at the leg, broken. Well this is one of my daughters favorite chickens. I carried him in the house to break the bad news to her. She started to cry. She asked what we were going to do. I told her we'd/I'd have to kill him. Couldn't put him in with the others like that, not fair to him. She asked about a vet and I said not much they could do either. Well I went out and did the deed and put him in the fridge. When I went out to put trailer away so that I could get rid of the unwanted things, she said that there was a opposum by the house. Told her to keep an eye on it while i went and got a gun to take care of it.Told her that it could wipe out a chicken house in a night or two in we didn't get rid of it. So i guess in the end I had one bad killing and one good one tonight.
I had another cockerel that got hurt last week and he seems to be ok now. Not hobbling around anymore and he's started crowing again. He is the one that I would had no problem getting rid of if I had to, but Zane was kind of tough. Guess They have all really become big pets.

there are orpingtons running threw there about every sunday.....mostly black and buff.....but the other colors are there sometimes

I had to put down my 9 yr old sumatra rooster the other year and I cried like a baby, so I feel for you on that one.
