6 to 8 weeks if you bottle feed em......6 months I'd say if it stays with its moma....I've seen em nurse up to a 1 yr old......even after the cow had another calf

wow i learn somethin new everyday we usually bottle fed orphaned calves 6 months too do they put mirale grow in the milk or somethin?

No miracle grow! Think about puppies. They'd nurse for several months, given the option to stay with their mom, but as soon as they're on solid food, we snatch them away. If the calves are eating solids well, and are able to digest them, then they no longer need the milk. The same with goats and sheep and other bottle fed mammals. Humans too. In the past, and still in underdeveloped countries, a baby might get nothing but milk for two years. We now wean them to solids earlier, and with the more condensed nutrition, thy grow stronger and taller...and nowadays, depending on those food choices, fatter.

WooHoo! What an awesome day! All the livestock were fed by daybreak, and I've gotten the feed room cleaned out as well. I did a good job organizing last time, so it really didn't take long. I just had to sort out some stuff hubby had taken out there and left in the middle of the floor, label some things, and sweep it out. It's 16 x 30, and I'm not currently storing hay in there, so it's pretty open.

I also managed to get on the lawn tractor and drive it! I couldn't do it last year, so that's an improvement! I'll need to make something to hold at least one crutch in case I need to move something out the way, but this summer I get to do the mowing! (Mowing is peaceful thinking time, and I like it.)

Now off to pick up trash from Reilly chewing things up! I have chores I could be doing inside, but they'll wait until it turns cold again, I think!

We are in Charlotte. This spring we are looking to expand our current flock, might be interested in splitting a hatchery order with someone local who was interested.
