Thank you. I hope she does too... she's our queen hen
try putting her in a little dog/cat kennel in a dark area so she wont be so active
She is in a small cooler with the lid open cause all of our stuff is packed up. We rolled her to her side so not to move her too much and she rolled the rest of the way on to her stomach. she lifted her head up some, but now she has settled back down to sleep

question about the shows...bear with me, I am a newbie... Do they have chicks or pullets for sale, or is it just a show to look and judge, like best in class, etc.
I am in Alamance Co, and the Winston-Salem and/or Greensboro area are easy to check out. And I'm hoping to have my coop built by March.

There is normally quite a bit for sale outside of a show. Inside the building is the show, outside is for parking, selling, buying, gossiping. Winston-S and Unifour(morganton) are the biggest spring shows. Both will have ALOT forsale outside. There are normally a couple big chick dealers at each and alot of backyard folks bring chicks as well. Just try to have something to keep them warm in to go home. Small cardboard box with shavings and a hand warmer works great. When I was selling chicks I used USPS boxes(FREE) and handwarmers I bought after season(75% off) to send folks home with new fuzzies.

Thanks Matt! I may plan for the W-S show, I am just not sure about raising chicks, I kind of want to start with some pullets, young enough to be socialized, but old enough to be out in a coop. I dont think that I have the time for babies, even though they are SOOOO freakin cute.

One more day of wet mess, then maybe everything can dry out a little. The problem is that tomorrow's system is forecasted to end as several hours of heavy SNOW. My birds hate snow. Luckily we are only supposed to got 1-4" of snow accumulation. I would bet that if it was cold and the ground already froze, we would be expecting ALOT more.

Friday is supposed to be in the 40's so anything that falls should melt, but that makes MORE mud.

Coop Scoop, thanks for the offer but that seems like a heck of a drive for you. Not that I know where cumberland county is???? (figure central or western part of the State, but I could be wrong) Let me know and I am game, of course I don't want you on the road all day either... smiles

Hey Matt, are you near the triad area? Your forecast sounds like ours. Also, when is the sale you mentioned in Winston Salem and where do they have it? I am just minutes from Winston Salem and would love to go!!
